anthk333 Posted December 28, 2012 #6 Share Posted December 28, 2012 That's the time that most of the last connections from the U.S. come in. Once you leave the customs area there will be a "taxi" desk with many girls asking if you want a taxi. These are the expensive ones, run by AOT (airports of Thailand). If you aren't comfortable with a regular taxi, just know that the rates for these taxis are 3+ times more than what you will pay for a regular taxi. Follow the signs down to the first floor where the taxi rank is. You will be asked you location and a sheet of paper will be given to you and the driver. The driver will ask you if you want to take the expressway - at 1AM, you shouldn't have much traffic, so feel free to say no. However if you take the expressway, tolls will run from THB 25 to THB 75 depending on your destination. One last bit of advice, make sure the driver turns on the meter when leaving. Also note that there is a legitimate THB 50 fee that need to be paid to the driver for the airport pickup. You are probably sailing one way from Thailand, but if you happen to be doing a B2B, note that the THB 50 fare is not paid when going to the airport. Travellingtaff Posted December 28, 2012 #8 Share Posted December 28, 2012 When we sailed on the Diamond we arranged to be met and taken to our city centre hotel, the same company transferred us to the cruise port a couple of days later. A Google search will reveal lots of companies. Knowing that we were going to be met gave us peace of mind after a long flight and we got excellent service. caribill Posted December 28, 2012 #9 Share Posted December 28, 2012 We had arranged for a tour guide for five days of sightseeing in Bangkok before our cruise. He also provided the transfer from the airport to our hotel. (Our cruise did not leave from Thailand, but if it had he also would have been our xfer to the cruise.) Mexfolkart Posted December 30, 2012 #10 Share Posted December 30, 2012 We have asked our Hotel and they will have a pick up for us that we will pay directly to the transfer person. We prefer to be "met" and know all we have to do is collapse in the back and go.. Sherry & Kimber
