Kayak Book with cruise line or do on our own?

Hi! We will be in St Thomas in less than 2 weeks and are thinking about doing the Kayak, snorkel & hike excursion. Celebrity offers a 4 hr version for $79 or we can book a 3.5 hr tour directly with the tour company. We can go with the cruise line in the am or on our own in the afternoon. Has anyone done this excursion either with the cruise line or directly....I would love to know the difference in the excursion. Was this a fun way to spend 1/2 a day in St. Thomas?

If you go with the cruise line, you'll be in a much larger group, but the price includes transportation. I also think the cruise tour is just kayak and snorkel without the hike.

 

The TripAdvisor reviews are mostly pretty good, and it's a good tour for families because the water's so calm.
