has anyone been here before? i would love to hear what you thought if you have!

Yes and it is wonderful. We went there with my then 10 and 5 year olds during our week there last June. We followed it up with a fantastic meal at Paradise View, which is just up the hill to the north on the left once you get back to the main road from the farm. Great brunches there. See my review on Tripadvisor.

Lots of butterflys all over the place. I've attached a couple of pictures I took while there. The first is one of my favorite shots. The second is my daughter standing as still as possible hoping one would land on her shoulder. :-)

We went five years ago and they gave us Dixie cups of juice. You dip your fingers in...the butterflies will land on you to drink it. My eight year old had several on his hands...and loved it. My five year old was not so thrilled!

Some other tips for the Butterfly Farm:

Go in the morning while the butterflies are most active.

Get good and drunk on rum the night before, so the rum is still sweating out of you during your visit. The butterflies will be all over you! (Obvious I say this more in jest than seriousness, but it *is* true. Not recommended for children ;-)

Wear yellow if you want the butterflies to land on you.

What is the taxi fare for 3 from the port to the Butterfly Farm?

The fare would be the same as to Le Galion beach. These 2 places are 300 yards apart. Here's the website for the taxi company.

Sorry, I don't see it listed but my guess would be that it would cost the same as to get to Orient as they are very close to each other.
