Granddaughter will be 2 1/2 and potty trained. We would like to take her for a couple of hours during the afternoon and during dinner at night. Which cruiseline would offer this type of program. She is very social and would do well in a kids program. Thanks for any help.

Actually - Carnival would be your best bet (did I just say that?)

On Royal and Disney - a 2.5 year old would be in the pay for service nursery program. Which I am assuming you don't want. (If you don't mind paying - then look for any RCI ship with the nursery - not all of them have them. All Disney ships do)

On NCL - they DID take 2 year olds in Splash Academy but just changed that age minimum to 3. And we can't tell which ships are still allowing 2 year olds as they are doing away with the "old" program.

Carnival isn't our favorite cruiseline, but we've done it just because they do start their kids program at 2. My kids are daycare kids, so the setting was familiar to them (lots of toys, kids and noise! Lol). They had a great time, and we're always happy to go, always sad to leave.

We mainly would like a couple hours here and there and would pay. Maybe a couple of nights for dinner.

NCL - do they have a place to take a 2 1/2 for a couple hours and you pay?

Specifically the Dawn.

RCI - anyone know which ships would be best for 2 1/2. Need the splash zone!

Thanks to all for your help.

Our then 6 month old DD LOVED the splash zone on the Oasis last September. They have an area for kids who are not potty trained and a bigger area for kids who are. We booked the Allure primarily for the kids' activities since our DD will be 14 months old when we sail. We paid for childcare a few evenings and one afternoon while onboard the Oasis. It was $8/hour.

NCL hasn't opened a paid nursery service - so no :(

RCI has nurseries on many ships - but the ones with nurseries AND splash zones are Freedom/Liberty/Oasis/Allure of the Seas.

Independence of the Seas has the splash zone but no nursery yet - BUT does have in cabin sitting. More expensive than the $8.00/hour Group nursery. The incabin sitting is about $17.00/hour because they send TWO babysitters to your cabin.
