Japan grounds all Dreamliners

Recommended Posts

planes are such a worry aren't they. Technology is fantastic but if it fails then you are up that creek really. They will sort it out.

..................after one goes down and they decide to spend the proper resources (paid for by the tax payer) on an investigation to find out the real faults.

We do have one or two nervous flyers on here so probably not a wise comment - even made in jest

Airlines are not self governing and safety issues are controlled by FAA and CAA who if anything are over cautious so i think we can all breathe a sigh of relief over that :) The FAA have already instigated an investigation:)

interestingly though all the major issues seem to be with the Asian fleets ANA and JAL

Yep, it's the biggest grounding of aircraft since the Freddie Laker DC10's cargo doors falling off in 1979.....more delays again for this so called 'dreamliner' not sure what kind of investment Thomsons have made or how many they have ordered but looks like a few more years before it actually happens now. It's like any kind of Technology takes a while to design, then you have to prove its worth it on trials, then build it, fiddle with it as no design freeze, so when it actually is built technology has moved on 10 years so designers want amendments?

I see that nearly ALL Dreamliners are now grounded (with exception of Etheopian Airways, who are having a meeting), wonder if this will impact on the delivery of new planes, namely to Thomson.

looking at this years and next years schedules looks like Thomson only have one plane?
