Transport FCO-Rome-Civitavecchia

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any recent experience with private transport from FCO into Rome and then from Rome to Civitavecchia? I know about limoinrome.com, but am wondering if there are any other recommendations for outfits that offer minivan transport, since limoinrome seems a bit pricey. We'll have a lot of luggage, so a regular sedan won't do. Plan to spend a couple of days in Rome at the end of Oct prior to going to Civitavecchia to join the Silver Spirit 2 Nov. The SS grand hotel package is much too expensive and we're doing our own hotel reservations at the Rome Cavelierri.

Good evening!

We used RomeCabs.com last April 2012. The driver was punctual, friendly, professional. I highly recommend RomeCabs.com

We used their services from FCO to our hotel in Rome and again from our hotel to the port in Civitavecchia to join the Silver Cloud.

Need more information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Bon Voyage!

A good choice Doug:), both RomeCabs & Rome Cavalieri..can recommend both..and are using them both again in June, go Imperial Rome View, you will not be disappointed .

Cheers M.P.

I e-mailed Rome Cabs last evening asking for a minivan quote and received a reply this morning. Now that's a pro outfit! Airport to hotel 55 euros and hotel to Civitavecchia 140 euros in a minivan. That's about the same as limoinrome.com, but I like the way Rome Cabs operates, so we'll go with them as soon as we get our SS air schedule. Booked the Rome Cavelierri yesterday.

dougburns we stayed at the Cavalieri on our first SS trip.

June 1996 Rome/Athens.

Then all inclusive: met at FCO by SS rep - claimed luggage and taken to Lancia sedan for solo transfer to Cavalieri pre-cruise overnight. Transfer to Civetaveccia to board Silver Wind.

THOSE WERE THE DAYS !!!:)

Maryann; We're in a King Imperial room with a Rome view, which includes use of the Imperial club, so it is basically all inclusive. They offered an upgrade to a Napoleon suite for an extra 219 euros/night, but I didn't bite. We are reserved for 2 nights at La Pergola restaurant in the hotel and that will bruise my wallet badly enough.

Doug just want to clarify -- "all inclusive" meant included in our voyage fare -- not extra on our own dime..

And again -- those were the days -- seemingly gone forever....:o

We used Rome Cabs last summer http://www.romecabs.com. Slightly different - we had them pick 4 of us up at port and take us to the Hilton at Rome Airport. We were spending the night in Rome but had such an early flight next day that we thought it smarter to not have to drive from city to airport. We used hotel shuttle to get back into Rome and spent full day.

Rome Cabs was cheaper than a couple of other sites (not by terribly much) - driver was waiting at pier earlier than requested - very nice - very professional.

Even though this is completely off-topic, I would like to recommend a tour in Rome. This summer we went on a private tour of the Vatican Museum and it ended with a stop in the Sistine Chapel. They emptied the whole Chapel out and it was just our group of about 12 people. The guide can talk to you, unlike the normal tours where they must be silent. We had about 30 minutes inside by ourself.

I'm probably not allowed to tell the name of the company, but you can PM if you like.

It was awesome!

We've done Rome extensively on past trips, so this pre-cruise stay will just be for rest and relaxation prior to going to the ship. After 20+ hours of travel it will be nice to just unwind at a great hotel like the Cavelieri. The one disappointment is that we were only able to book La Pergola for the evening of 31 Oct, since the restaurant will be closed on 1 Nov.

Hello, everyone. All your info is very helpful for us as well, as we'll be disembarking in Civitavecchia. We embark in Istanbul so we'll be needing private transfers from the airport in Istanbul (Antarak) to our Hotel & then from our hotel to the cruise port. Any suggestions? Thank you

Hi,

I checked out your link and would only have one comment regarding the properties they listed in Istanbul. I think that while nice, they are not in the best location for seeing the sites. You'll spend time traveling back and forth to the sites. Many of the sites are in the Sultanahmet area. This is not a knock on how nice the rooms/properties are, just their location.

The best hotel in Istanbul in that area is the Four Seasons.

Maybe you've been to IST before and you don't care, but I would not recommend staying outside of that area. Just my 2 cents...

You're right, farbster-they are a lil ways away from the main attractions in Old City but we will be happy to do a full day tour of the main attractions in Istanbul & then we want to go see Asia since we'll be so close. Why would you stay out of that area? Is it a rough part of town? We've never been to Istanbul.

I did look into the Four Seasons but I'm not paying $1000/ night. I'd rather spend the savings on the tours we'll do. The back to back cruises we're taking have also put a dent in the bank account. Though I'm sure, will be well worth every hard earned penny! :)

Not dangerous to my knowledge, but just away from the main attractions.

Istanbul is so amazing.

Please feel free to send me a PM if you want any suggestions.
