cruisingbooboo Posted January 21, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted January 21, 2013 I'd prefer not to do ship sponsored, I've always had luck w/ independent excursions. Can anyone reccomend a company? Thanks!
ciera123 Posted January 22, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2013 We do independent tours about 95% of the time, but the one I mentioned is the exception. Have a good trip!
johneeo Posted January 24, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 24, 2013 We do independent tours about 95% of the time, but the one I mentioned is the exception. Have a good trip! Where does it leave from? Do you have to take a taxi, or does it leave from Crown Bay?
ciera123 Posted January 24, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 24, 2013 Our ship was docked at Charlotte Amalie. They pick you up and take you to their Catamaran at a dock near Red Hook. They bring you back to the ship after the excursion.
mandysmom2 Posted January 24, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 24, 2013 I highly recommend Treazzure Sailing Adventures. I just came back on Jan 19th from sailing on the Celebrity Summit. Our party of 7 book a private day with Captain Joe and his first mate Deana. He also has two cats that sail with you as well. Our ship docked at Charlotte Amalie and we took a taxi to American Yacht Harbor close to Red Hook. We previously had arranged with Captain Joe that we wanted to spend time at St John's and would like to do snorkeling. He advised us to get off our ship as early as possible in order to maximize our day. For $140.00 a piece we enjoyed juices, mimosas, bloody mary's, delicious muffins and fresh fruits for breakfast as we sailed over to St John's. It was a windy day and he anchored us where we saw several turtles, a barracuda and good snorkeling. We enjoyed Painkiller's, Caribbean Cosmo's and more Bloody Mary's. Captain Joe made a fabulous salad topped with jerk chicken and garlic bread with a kick. Soda's, beer and juices were also available. We then sailed to Christmas Cove and had better snorkeling and saw a fairly large octopus. Relaxing music played and fun was had by all. Captain Joe contacted a cab for us and dropped us off at Cowpet Bay. Therefore we were able to maximize our time swimming and snorkeling and was assured getting back to the ship on time. NorthCarolinaBelle Posted January 26, 2013 #11 Share Posted January 26, 2013 My parents taught their two cats to sail from the time they were kittens. They grew to be huge and were an attraction at the docks!
Rare mizLORInj Posted January 30, 2013 #12 Share Posted January 30, 2013 If docked at Crown bay you will need to take a taxi to Charlotte Amalie or Red Hook for a day sail.
blue_water Posted January 30, 2013 #13 Share Posted January 30, 2013 Most cats and sailboats are out of the Red Hook Marina or Sapphire Marina nearby (New Horizons, Breakaway, Yacht Nightwind, Double Header). We took the New Horizons last week from 10AM - 4PM for $75pp with a great Italian lunch, 2 snorkel stops (Honeymoon/Caneel Bay and St James), and great drinks (Nooners and Painkillers). Small group and a crew of 3. Yacht Nightwind and Daydreamer/Coconuts have great itineries and are very nice. You can book these directly, just Google their sites. New Horizons, Daydreamer, and Yacht Nightwind are all highly recommended, just depends on whether your time in port works. The taxi to Red Hook and Sapphire is $18pp roundtrip from havensight, a little more from Crown.
