All aboard??, Skier52 and Norwegian Cruiser 73

A little late but...thank you a lot for all your pictures, tips and help with the YC! We had an amazing cruise and I came here to share some pictures (not as good as yours but still...) from my cruise!

I went with my mother on the YC1 16019. We had an amazing experience...we are definitely considering cruising YC again, but we book the Preziosa on a regular cabin as the YC were a little too much ($$) for the Christmas Cruise...maybe on a regular one :)

As we went on the "Carnaval" cruise, the YC was the only place where we could find some peace...the regular pool was always crowded as the parties were all there...they started at 8pm and went until 8 am the next day...just too many (crazy) people for us!

We got the best of both worlds...we could enjoy the party and have a good night of sleep without some drunk people running on the cabin corridors! The service was excellent and our butler was a really really nice person always there for us

Here are some pictures and thank you again for all the help!

What I was talking about the Carnaval cruise...

I am SOOOOO excited about our cruise!! Even though we haven't traveled with MSC before, everything I've read here states that the YC is SUPERB!! Only 93 days till sailing!!!!!!! I'm seriously considering the prior week even though we would have to change cabins.

Hi. I have a Yacht Club cruise on Divina over Thanksgiving. I have booked an executive/family suite. What I wonder is I would like to bring along a tux. But I have trouble getting the cuff links, bow tie, etc. to work. Is it unreasonable to ask the butler to assist me in getting my tux together? That is, am I out of line to ask him to help me with the cuff links, put on my tie. etc.

Thanks.

I always asked the butler to do that - he even brushed me down before I walked out the cabin. I had them serve drinks in my cabin, deliver invitations to other passengers, run cigarettes from my cabin down to me in the casino, fetch my tie, cufflinks and jacket from the wine bar on deck seven aft, change of shirt when I messed at dinner would be brought to me at the restuarant, a new cruise card to the nightclub when I had problems, registration for the Neptune ceremony, bringing a robe and towl down to the main pool after the Neptune ceremony, fetch items from my cabin to bring to me in the topsail lounge.....and my list goes on ;-)

It sounds like your butler was very busy helping you. You spoke about the Neptune ceremony. What is that?

Did you tip the butler each time he helped you? I know MSC puts tips on a persons account as a total.

This will be my first time on MSC so now sure how everything works.

Thanks for your answer.

Don't think they will be allowed even if paying - u will need to dine in one of the a la carte dining features -

On this ship better if all booked in yacht club or all not as u won't be able to enjoy all the yacht club offers if u are trying to be with ur friends who are not in the yacht club.

All the butlers were very helpful; so I always keep the automatic serice charge but give my butler 50 EUR on the first day explaining how demanding I am and what I expect (clothes on floor goes to laundry etc) and then depending on the service I receive furring the cruise the final tip can be anything from another 50EUR to 200 EUR. They will obviously protest at first because MSC does not encourage it, but as Skipper Tim pointed out at the time I worked Donny hard. I also gave the head butler 50 EUR because he is involved in the bespoke excursions available only to YC guests.

The Neptune ceremony is when you get egged and floured when you cross the equator - was lots of fun.

Wow, as an expert of the YC I would love to know about the exclusive tours (and costs) if you have that information. We are cruising YC on the Fantasia on the 20th Oct 2013. Your brilliant reviews have been very informative.

I really like them - the only problems is the lack of a balcony (but realistically if I use a balcony 10% of the time it is a lot) and the fact that they are not in teh YC complex itself (but this does enable you to entertain easily and without issue).

This is of 12002 - the smallest of the YC2 cabins:

Don't forget to order your pillows from the pillow menu ;)

What about plug ins for electricity. Is there someplace I can plug in my lap top and a desk area. How about in the bedroom? I use a machine to help me sleep. Is there a plug in by the bedroom?

Thanks.

IowaChuck; in 12002 the dressing table - which can be see in the corner of teh picture is fairly close to the bed (which is behind me when I took the photograph) - has lots of plugs etc. In 12004 the plugs are on the server which is about a meter and a half from the foot of the bed - the dresser in 12004 forms part of the walk in wardrobe.

As for the cost of the bespoke tours I didn't really do anything else but the private tours (own mercedes etc) - Rome was 450 EUR; Barcelona was 240 EUR and I am trying to find my bill from this past March what a bus cost; but all I remember it was very comparable to if you source it directly from the supplier; nothing like the ludicrous prices HAL charges.

Thanks for your answer. I have cabin 12002 so that will work out perfectly. But you brought up another subject that I wondered about. You mentioned private transportation that MSC booked for you. Did you do that on the ship? When I called MSC, I was told it was basically the same as the ships shore excursions except you don't have to go on a bus. Is that true? Did you decide what you wanted to do and then just tell the driver? I am not interested in a private photographer, since I will be on the cruise by myself.

Thanks again for your thoughtful answers.

Yes, I got a driver and told them where and what I wanted to do or even sometimes I just said to them "surprise me".....every time I have booked one of these through the concierge I have never been disappointed.

They tell the owners of the tour companies that the guests as VIPs of the cruise line and so you get really great service...

My cruise on Divina is over US Thanksgiving. I will let you know when I come back about the tub. It won't surprise me if has the whirlpool as well.

Did you find the butlers to be stand offish? Or were they friendly? I have read both here on Cruise Critic. How about the passengers in Yacht Club? Since I am traveling solo, I hope the passengers won't all be couples or have kids running around!

Chuck?

I am hoping our girls won't be noisy, we are in 12004 right next to you. We are having a meet and greet, 4PM, Sunday, at the Jazz Lounge, informal. We are the Petrazio's from Fort Worth, TX. Me (Phil), Tina my wife, Avery (4) and Ashley (2). If you need anything just knock. I saw we have BOSE surround sound in the rooms, so I will have to work out when I can test them out with you.

See you Saturday - I wonder if we share our butler or each room comes with one.

There are no bunks at all, but the sofa can be used as a doublebed:) I have no experience in adding more than two guests but if you do go for one of the large YC1 cabins, there are 4 of them on each deck 15 and 16.

Here is a couple of photos from cabin 16032 on our last cruise on MSC Divina:

.:D

Thanks for the pictures. We're in 16032 on the 3/15/14 sailing.
