Casinos at Sea, Club Royale, Ocean Players Club experiences / differences - Junket ??

This is the worst club ever. Called to check on status from last 2 cruises and the never sent any tracking over from the previous cruises. They will not be getting play from me this trip, I will gamble in Puerto Rico and St. Maarten instead.

That's crazy - They should have tracking for you if you used your card at the slots or checked in at the tables. Maybe call back and speak to someone else. Based on your play you should be able to receive comps of some sort. If not through the cruise line then definitely through a casino junket company. If you need help with that let me know. I'd be happy to help.

Just curious - which cruise line are you talking about that didn't have any tracking for you?

Thanks for the reply, Clownival Ocean Players Club. Cruises on Holland America and Princess. Was truly a surprise, did not expect the comps I get in Vegas and Reno, but a free drink would be nice.

I only play the tables, so has to be the pit bosses do not track well. Seems I should do what I do in Vegas and ask what they have tracked me for average bet before I leave the table. If they have a lower average than I have been betting I have them talk to the dealers.

Is that Mark Cassidy? If so, he was my host on Freedom of the Seas in October. He did an excellent job taking care of me and my friends.

Sorry, I didn't see your post until today. Yes, Mark Cassidy. He is a great host. I can't say enough good things about him. Hubby and I gave him both of our WOW cards. I am hoping he is the host for the tournament in December. He said he has been the host for the finals tournament for last two years.

Just got back from the Liberty this morning and we had a great time. Hubby and I both made it to the final in the VIP slot tournament, but came in 6th and 10th place (no prize). We also entered the regular slot tournament and did a couple of re-buys. They paid off, I won a cruise on December 2nd with an entry into the $100,000 slot tournament taking place during that cruise. :D

As for play in the casino, the first couple of days were brutal. The last day we won some of the money back, plus I won the tournament. We met some great people, and had fun with them as well as some friends from home. Plus our casino host, Mark, is amazing. Overall the great times we had overshadowed our losses in the casino and we are looking forward to our next cruise.

Forgot to mention a few things. When we got our sea passes they had yellow Club Royale VIP stickers on them. This entitled us to free drinks and bottled water in the casino. We did have complimentary wine and chocolate covered strawberries in our room. They had some discount coupons too, but I forget the details. We were invited to a casino hosted sail-away party which was great. They had a nice variety of tasty apps including caviar and free drinks of course. We asked Mark if he could comp upgraded dinners in the MDR as we didn't want to go to a specialty restaurant and he called the dining room and took care of it. We both ordered the filet and lobster.

We called Club Royale after coming home and found out that we have almost double the amount of comp dollars waiting for us on our next cruise as we had last time :D Plus we booked the cruise for December I had won, which entitled us to an oceanview room paying only port fees and taxes. It would have been just over $300. We asked about upgrading to a balcony and they told us they reserve some cabins that we could have at a discounted rate. We got a balcony, including fees, taxes, prepaid gratuities and insurance for less than $500. Is it December yet???;)

I am an elite player at Leberge Du lac casino in my local town. They some how have a program with RCL. I called the number, they gave me a superior balcony for myself and a guest for 507.14. Wow. The room for spring break was 2300. I couldn't believe it! I just got back from Liberty of the Seas. I'm a first time cruiser. I'm already now planning to go on a future cruise. I called them up this morning but wanted to try Allure or Oasis. They say they gonna get back to me since I just came back. I play mainly slots. It's just that I didn't lose on this trip. I hit 2 jackpots...also got plenty of t shirts, key chains, 50 wine credit (I don't drink) so they changed it to food credit. I also had that club Royale VIP on my sea pass but to me I thought that was embarrassing....they think I'm a big time gambler when really I'm not. Anyhoo, I think it's nice they do offer something then nothing. I just wished I knew sooner. I would've cruised a long time ago. The number to Royal Caribbean Club Royale Casino is (866)515-7245

That's great! If you love RC then of course you will stay with them but if you want to choose to go on other lines a casino junket can use your status on RC to get you the same comps on other lines like NCL or Carnival or Celebrity. In the future you might want to look into that as well.

Club Royale told me that if we go on any of the cruises where they have a tournament, they offer very good rates. We are thinking about the one leaving July 28, but I don't know if we can get away for that long at that time of year. Below is link to the list of tournament dates:

Congrats on winning. :) Did you ask about cash back on board in casino or credit for your next cruise? It is rated on how much you play, not whether you win or lose.

We are elite players at seminole casino, but unfortunately they are not hooked up with Royal, I wish they were. :(

Thanks Atlanta07. I'll try that. I do play at Harrahs and they occasionally send me stuff for cruises but never really looked at it. Now I'm hooked and will definitely do it again as soon as possible.

Thanks rochelleb for the link. This is why I love cruise critic. So much info and so many friendly people want to help. I will call them back soon and will definitely ask them about credit for my next cruise. Hopefully, they will give me a deal on allure or oasis. :)

How do you get a card for CAS on NCL? We're doing a Baltic cruise on 06/03/13, and I know we'll be visiting the casino a few nights during the 9 we're on the Star... but how do you get the card?

On the boat?

Prior to boarding?

And Slot Play coupons... $25 for $50... is it worth it and do they work? Are the accepted or am I taking a chance?

If you are part of the CAS program when you book the cards will be in your room. If not, just simply go to the casino when they open and they will issue you one - very easy.

Slot play coupons are accepted with no issues.

FYI as of April 1, 2013 NCL/Casino at sea, have significantly changed their program. NCL is owned by the same company that owns Caesars and they are modeling it a little like Caesar's Rewards program. There is less mysterious comps, now they are defined by level. Perhaps this has been discussed elsewhere here.

Briefly, they now have 5 levels: Lucky, Hot, Golden (us), VIP and VIP+. For example Lucky, the intro card, 750 pts on 4 day or less cruises, or 1,500 for 5 day or great cruises gets you the drink card.

For example at Golden, you get the drink card, two room service treats; dinner and wine at a specialty restarurant (two for us since we are both Golden), 2-day spa pass, VIP seating at shows, cigarettes or 1 cigar per day, 3% convenience fee waived. Probably a few more things. They also comped us $600 at the end of the trip for earning about 7,000 points combined. Oh yes, I believe you have to have 20,000 points each in the past year to be Golden.

The one big question I have never gotten answered is how much do you have to gamble on board to have CAS comp you a cruise. All our cruises are comp'ed from Caesars and Cosmopolitan casino's for play there. A friend of ours has an actual RCL host that comps her RCL cruises (through the cruise line, not land based casinos).

I love these programs. I'm doing NCL breakaway for practically nothing in a spa balcony through Harrahs 7* program. Then I'm an elite player through My Choice and got a free suite on RCL..just pay taxes, ports, and gratuities. I don't usually cruise but was on liberty of seas in March 2013 and now I'm hooked. I just wish I knew sooner but was always scared of cruising. Hey....any comp is better than nothing since I'm gonna gamble anyways on the land casinos.

I seem to recall the roulette wheel on the RCI ships has a 0 and a 00, so it's like low-limit Vegas (but worse than Europe which never has a 00). But don't they also shaft you on the payout to a number, giving you 32:1 instead of 35:1? Maybe I'm thinking of a European ferry boat or something...

The game on the major cruise lines normally played is American Roulette. Personally I would not touch it with a bargepole. In land based casinos in the UK we play European Roulette. This is the version played in the majority of casinos outside of the USA. The main difference been the 00 in the American version. The other difference is the la partage rule which pays 50% of outside bets back to the player should the ball land on the 0.

Outside chances House edge American roulette 5.26%

Outside chances House edge European roulette 2.7%

Outside chances House edge European roulette la partage rule 1.35%

You are looking at massive differences in likely losses over several hours of game play.

For this reason I stick to only Blackjack on cruise ships.
