Stopover on way to Sydney!

Recommended Posts

We are considering a cruise Sydney to Singapore on Arcadia.

Wondered if anyone had done one and had a stop over somewhere before Sydney and boarding ship.

If so did you organise it yourself or did P&O sort it for you?

Also where is the best stopover? Not Singapore as the cruise finishes there.

Not with P & O, but we are doing a similar cruise with FO in a couple of weeks, and we are flying with Qantas who stop over in Singapore for refuelling. We have decided to take an extra few days in Sydney rather than face another 11or so hour flights with the resultant jetlag by staying in Singapore. Get it all out the way in one hit:D

Hi C at Sea, can't help you with your post but if you do book we have booked the LA T to Dubai segments. We have booked an extra 2 nights in Dubai.

Dubai may beep a good stop off for you en route to Sydney.

It depends on which airline you plan on using. A few examples, but there are more:

Singapore Airlines (our favourite) and Qantas/BA stop in Singapore

Thai Airlines stop in Bangkok

Emirates stop in Dubai

Etihad stop in Doha

Qatar stop there

Cathay Pacific stop in Hong Kong

Fares can vary enormously so it's worth doing some careful research as the airlines often throw in hotel deals for stopovers too. If you can manage Business Class then take it because you will arrive relaxed, rested after the long flight and ready to enjoy your cruise with minimal jet lag.

Maylasia Airlines stop in Kuala Lumper

While on the subject of Asia and Australia its best to check out the weather for differant countrys rainy season

Queensland and Darwin it rains in the summer not the winter plus cyclones its flooding at this moment. Thailand, Singapore,Hong Kong, and Malaysia also have huge rainy seasons so do your home work weather wise it could spoil your holiday. Aussie

Thanks for all your tips.

The cruise sails 26th Feb 2014 from Sydney. Goes to Melbourne, Adelaide, Fremantle, Bali and Singapore. Presume weather ok then?

Would like to fly to perhaps Dubai for couple of nights, fly to Sydney and fly back from Singapore.

Presume P&O would sort all that out for us?

Regarding flights with Qantas

From 31st March 2013 ALL Qantas flights will now go from London Heathrow to DUBAI and then on to either Sydney / Melbourne AND NOT VIA SINGAPORE

Qantas have just launched a new partnership with Emirates Airlines and are ending a LONG partnership with British Airways

You could still fly British Airways to Asia / Australia

Thanks!

HK sounds like a good option with good balance of distances.

Does anyone know if P&O will arrange your flights to HK and hotel and flights on to Sydney or do you have to organise it yourself?

Wonder if it works out cheaper to diy or if P&O can get discounts?
