Business Class Upgrade to Reykjavik

Normally we take the air credit offered by Regent and book air ourselves. On our upcoming cruise Reykjavic to Copenhagen we took Regent air and upgraded to Business. Since Regent Business is restricted to over water only and Reyjavik seems to be an odd if not difficult air destination re: Icelandic Air my question is there a deviation that maximizes the Regent Business Class, or is the Business upgrade to Reyjavik worth the additional cost? Anyone with experience flying from US to Reyjavic, your comments would be appreciated.

It's a slightly over 6 hour daylight flight (late afternoon) from Iceland to Washington...shorter to NY. We did this in coach last year, purchasing our own wickets since we used miles to do First to London for a short visit on the outbound. This year we are repeating the Iceland to Washington flight on IcelandAir, but opted for "Economy Comfort" class - $600 O/W (when we booked) gets you 2-2 seating, some extra legroom, free drinks and pre-departure lounge access.

Icelandair business class is not what I consider international business class. The seats are like the ones in first class on AA from tulsa to Dallas. You get a little more room and better service, but they are definitely NOT lie flat. We do our own air anyway, and we paid for business class on icelandair because it is not all that expensive. Not sure what regent is charging for it, but you should do the math before you have them book it.

We did this cruise last year. Flew from Seattle into Iceland. Debated about the upgrade to Business, and decided not based on cost. Other couple did upgrade and were disappointed in cost/service. We were actually pretty comf. in economy, forward and on the side...Ah the sacrifices we have to make!! This was a GREAT cruise, ALL of the ports in Iceland and Norway were awesome, memory makers. Enjoy.
