Sled Dogs/Puppies at any of the Ports?

Are there any excursions (not with the cruiseline) that people can recommend where you can see and interact with sled dog puppies? We don't necessarily have to have a sled ride but would be nice to see how it is all set up.

If you are talking about the normal ports of Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan - the only ones I know of are out of Skagway in Carabou Crossing YT - to get there you need to either rent a carj get a Green Jeep or take a tour from Chilkoot or Dyea Dave. Otherwise the only other dog sled activities are part of a helicopter glacier trip with a landing where you get out a take a sled dog trip.

Hi Rachel,

 

We did visited one during our trip on the White Pass / Yukon excursion.

 

We did not take the sled ride but were able to play with the dogs there :)

Seavey's kennel in Seward. Don't know if there are always pups.

Denali has the sled dog demo and pups. You can follow the new litter each year on a web cam, starting early June.

The other place in Skagway where you can see them is the Klondike Gold Dredge. http://www.klondikegolddredge.com/ They have a musher who does a little presentation on dog sledding, shows some of the gear, and then you get to play with the puppies. They also show some of the dogs pull a sled around the yard, but there is no opportunity to ride. My teens LOVED the puppies here!!! We also did gold panning and went in the 40 degree below chamber here.
