hawaiilvr Posted February 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Dang - I can't believe I got sucked into a pointless discussion about the Carnival Triumph situation. I try so hard to be measured in my responses to threads here and try to stay out of the fray, but today, I just didn't and it turned into a pom pom waterfall battle. Ugh! Anyway for my actual question - we are on the Sun in May from Vancouver to Whittier. Will the casino be open at all while we are in Alaska waters? Will the ship go farther out to sea in the evenings in order to open the casino? TIA

I try so hard to be measured in my responses to threads here and try to stay out of the fray, but today, I just didn't and it turned into a pom pom waterfall battle. Ugh! TIA Don't feel bad. There are a lot of people saying a lot of things that are being blown out of proportion on both sides of that one. I've read about it all day and night and I guess my inability to turn away from a train wreck (the forums, not the actual incident on Triumph) keeps me reading. I've wasted a whole day of my life! I don't know what they do about the casinos on the Alaska sailings, however. :o
OceanDreaming2 Posted February 12, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Based on what happened on our Alaskan cruises, yes, the casino will be open.
CapeCodCruiser Posted February 12, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2013 You've taken the first step in recognizing there is a problem!;) Funny you should post that about the Triumph - I have avoided ALL of those discussions on here - just can't take the drama. I can only speculate about the casino - the cruise lines generally do what they have to to open them. Even if that means sailing in circles! :)
spacepotatoes Posted February 12, 2013 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2013 On our Alaskan cruise last year, the casino was open while at sea and when sailing between ports. This was on HAL but I'd imagine that if they can do it, NCL should be able to.
deladypilot Posted February 12, 2013 #6 Share Posted February 12, 2013 in 2011 when we did the Star r/t Seattle, the casino was open once we got out to see. I believe the first night it was closed due to us being in American Waters, but it was open most of the time we were at sea
NayRN Posted February 12, 2013 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Bad me....I posted the first link on here thinking it would be a compassionate thread...how silly to think that!! Anyway...both times to Alaska the Casino was open the first night....I'm thinking around 7pm. I did a r/t Seattle on the Pearl and a r/t Vancouver on the Sun. I know I hit pretty good on the last night on both ships! Hopefully that luck can be forwarded to you!!!;)
auntierobin Posted February 12, 2013 #8 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Three trips to Alaska on NCL and the casino was open on all of them.

I gave you my opinion in the other thread. If that isn't good enough, then I apologize. You really don't need to nip at my heels like an angry chihuahua. Sometimes people disagree.
