embarkation in Tampa?

Can you leave the ship after you board? Say for example you board the ship, your room is ready, drop of your bags, can you leave the ship and go to the store and get back on before it sails? Did it in San Juan and was just curious about Tampa. Thanks!

There are shops, restaurants etc very near the port. Easy walk.
