Orlando /MCO alternatives?

Some major airlines fly to Melbourne, but Sanford is pretty much charters & Allegiant--no major carriers. If you don't mind driving 1-3 hours you could check Tampa, Jacksonville or Daytona Beach. Do a one way rental to Port Canaveral & a one way rental back to the airport. There are no drop fees in FL for dropping a car at another location. You'd have to allow the extra time for it, but it could be worth it if you can find significant savings on airfare.

Allegiant which is really the only domestic airline which flies to Sanford is your only choice if you choose that airport. The closest airport to you that it serves is Fayetteville, AR.

Melbourne/Daytona usually have pretty much the same fares so choose Melbourne as it's much closer. Sometimes the fares are lower to these two than to Orlando & sometimes not.

Any other airport will require you to drive for hours to reach Port Canaveral. Good luck.
