Has anyone done this cruise sailing from Southampton, England to New York? According to the Booking summary, we have a full day in Nanortalik Greenland and a full day in St. Johns Newfoundland. There are no shore excursions listed for either port. When I called Princess all I was told that they didn't offer any excursions in those ports. So if anyone has done this cruise or has been to either of these ports, do you know if they are easy to get around??Any recommendations?

I have cruised many times with Princess (Elite) and this is the first time I have seen where no excursions are offered.

We did the Caribbean Princess TA in 2012. It was great. We stopped at Qaqortoq, Greenland and St. Johns, Newfoundland.

In Qaqortoq we tendered ashore and had a fantastic time just walking around and taking in the atmosphere of being in Greenland. We did shop at the one super market, talked with folks, walked through the little area where the locals had set up some booths to sell local products. All in all we spent about 3 hours ashore and were very happy with the port call.

In St. John's we rented a car to see the sights. We drove up to Signal Hill and the area near by, went to Quidi Vidi and to the Brewery, drove through town, did a bit of shopping and returned to the ship.

There were Princess tours at St. Johns.

We hope that helps.

Here is the listing for excursions in St. John's, Newfoundland. (You can use the dropdown to search for Nanortalik, but nothing is shown there as of now).

As this is a very infrequent port for Princess and you are not sailing for six months they may not know yet which of these will be available the day you call. Precise listing should hit your cruise personalizer in the next two or three months.

Unless the itinerary has changed markedly for 2013, you will be docking at St. John's Newfoundland not St. John, New Brunswick.

As stated above this port is seldom on the Princess port list, but we found it an interesting stop. The community turns out with shipside greeters ready to answer any and all questions. The dockage is right downtown in St. Johns.

The entrance/exit to the. John's harbor is very interesting. It is through a very, very narrow gap and well worth watching.

Although we rented a car and went sight seeing on our own, we did see Princess tours and assume they will have them for your cruise too.

Enjoy,
