Carnival Triumph "$500 offer"

Is that per person? Other than the sewage issue, I would have made out like a bandit if I was on that cruise. That's because I would have booked an inside stateroom (est. $300-400 pp). I'm pretty sure my liquor bill (est. $100) would be paid for. I would have finished all of the drinks in the fridge ( $?). I wonder if they are also paying for the duty-free liquor purchase (est. $300). I would have took home the robes (couple of $$). I also heard they had an open bar at one point ($?). I probably would have booked a first class flight ( lots of $$$ ) home since they are paying for it. To top it off, a discount on a future cruise ( ?%). Yea... I would have.

Spencer beat me to it, yes, it was $500 per passenger. All things considered (all the refunds and transporation provided/paid for, etc.), a relatively nice package was afforded the guests of that unfortunate cruise.

You are correct. I am not saying what they had to go through wasn't bad, but they did receive a pretty good amount of compensation.

They received:

-a refund of their cruise fare

-Free cruise

-a refund of all onboard expenses excluding gift shop, art, and casino purchases

-a refund of transportation expenses

-and $500.

Did I miss anything?

This subject has been beaten to death. Firstly it was not "only" $500. That was just part of it. Secondly, the reason they asked people to sign transportation waivers was EXACTLY because of people like you that would "book a first class flight". If you didn't have insurance, they were not obliged to pay one penny for your return transport. And if you wanted them to pay for it, they would have booked it for you.
