Lady Anna & Sir Troy Posted February 24, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2013 Hi All - I have read through several of the laundry chains and even seen pictures of the laundry bag which I think is about 12" x 24" (depth???). I took note that many said you could stuff a lot in that bag. I'm not sure how much a lot is. My question is can I fit at least 3 jeans, 1 pair of dress slacks, 4 pairs of socks, 2 polo shirts, 1 men's dress shirt, and 1 women's dress shirt in the bag. Thanks!! L.A.S.T. Not sure if we have ever fit 3 pairs of jeans, everything else is is a yes for sure. Most likely 2 pairs without ripping the bag. You can certainly try. sdmike Posted February 24, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2013 2 pairs of jeans maybe, but I also think 3 is pushing it with the rest of the stuff. The bag is paper and doesn not stretch.
Lady Anna & Sir Troy Posted February 24, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted February 24, 2013 Okay, To be more specific - 1 pair men's jeans, 2 pairs women's light jeans, 2 pair dress pants, 2 polo shirts, 2 thin women's shirts, 4 pairs of socks. I can get it all into a 12" x 16" x 4" bag no problem and nothing overspilling the top. L.A.S.T.
Lady Anna & Sir Troy Posted February 24, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted February 24, 2013 Thanks so much for the answers! I am reconsidering 2 pairs of jeans. It's funny, that one pair of men's jeans takes up at least 1/4 of the room!! :p
sdmike Posted February 24, 2013 #6 Share Posted February 24, 2013 Two pair of jeans lasted me all week without washing. On our caribbean cruise I only wore them for a few hours each evening and didn't get them dirty
EileenN Posted February 24, 2013 #7 Share Posted February 24, 2013 bring a roll of tape to secure and strenthen the bag, a marker to get your name and room number on the bag and roll everything tightly. You may be surprised what you can do.
puddles99 Posted February 24, 2013 #8 Share Posted February 24, 2013 I think there's a good chance you can make it fit. Just be strategic & if you have room to pack some duct tape, this likely wont be then only way you use it! Starry Eyes Posted February 24, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 24, 2013 You questioned the depth of the bag... I recall, until filled the bag is flat (little or no side panel). So, you can add a bit of clothing so it is flat nd wide...add more clothing and it must become deeper and narrower.

I'm not sure about the 3rd pair of jeans. Plan on stuffing the socks in the corners of the bag. Roll the polo shirts up tightly, loosely roll the dress shirts. We bring duct tape with us and have used it a couple times to tape a torn bag.
t-and-t Posted February 24, 2013 #11 Share Posted February 24, 2013 My husband has fit a couple of pairs of jeans, ten or eleven T-shirts, a dress shirt, socks, AND underwear in one of those bags! He just rolls everything up really tight and squishes it all in the bag. He's the same way with packing his suitcase - he's a master at it! We fit more than that in the laundry bag last week with 3 pairs of jeans, they were kids jeans though. I wouldn't count on the laundry for the trip though, we left the laundry at noon on Wednesday as instructed and got it back late Friday night just in time to pack for the midnight luggage deadline. joyy7403 Posted February 24, 2013 #13 Share Posted February 24, 2013 Duct tape is the answer. Wrap some around an old gift or restaurant card to pack in your suitcase. Tape it around the entire bag. Works terrific!!:D

Since we are on the 10 day trip we can wait an extra day to get the laundry back, just means I will want to do the first laundry special. Thanks so much for the warning!! L.A.S.T. OceanDreaming2 Posted February 24, 2013 #15 Share Posted February 24, 2013 I agree - you'll be fine. I use painter's tape instead of duct tape. It comes in handy more than once during a cruise.

jdvmd Posted February 25, 2013 #20 Share Posted February 25, 2013 The jeans will take up the most room. Also, any cargo shorts. That said, my record is 53 items in the bag special (a lot of socks and underwear but also a lot of other things). I have done this several times. They do not care if the bag is slightly ripped or if things are overflowing at the top. I do take duct tape along to reinforce the bag if it should be compromised. If turned in by 9 a.m., they say they are returned two days later. I know for a fact that my items were done the same day because during the Behind the Scenes tour, I saw my finished laundry. I mentioned this to our cabin steward and I had the laundry within minutes.
