Transportation with child from LGA to hotel/port

Could any one please recommend a good car service in New York that would provide a car seat for child? We're mainly concerned about transportation from the airport to hotel (about 20-30 mins ride), since some were saying that cabs around the airport may refuse to take a family with young child without car seat.

Or is it not a concern at all, for those who traveled with young children and used cab service to/from the airport?

Thanks a lot for your advice.

car seats are not required for cabs, so the cab driver will take you without them. They are exempt under federal law. What I do frankly is take my own with me. You can try the major car services 212 77777777 or carmel at http://www.carmellimo.com

and see if they will provide them

if a yellow cab refuses file a complaint at http://www.nyc.gov/tlc

how many people are you?

From Dial 7's FAQs : http://www.dial7.com/faq#v3

3. Does Dial 7 supply infant or booster seats?

“If you would like Dial 7 to provide child car seat, you may order an SUV equipped with a “standard” infant seat. We provide only one type of car seat which it may not be appropriate for all children. The seat is offered as a courtesy and is not required by law.”

From Carmel Limo's site: http://carmellimo.com/Faq.shtml#Q8 (Note: Their comment about car seats being required are contrary to my understanding of the law, but the important part of the FAQ is they do not proved them.)

Q: Do I have to bring a car seat for my child?

A: If your child is under the age of 7, legally your child must be in a car seat. All passengers must provide their own car seats. Carmel does not provide car seats.

its says that in NYCity cabs and for hire vehicles are exempt...but must allow you to put you own in if you want...

Many people enquire as to what the rules are regarding child safety seats and seatbelts in taxicabs. Officially, drivers of yellow medallion taxicabs and for-hire vehicles and their passengers are exempt from laws regarding car seats and seatbelts. While the Taxi and Limousine Commission encourages everyone in the vehicle to buckle their seatbelts while riding in a cab, there are no rules regarding this. Hence, infants may ride in any taxi at a parent's discretion. Of course, passengers with children are encouraged to bring their own car seats, which the drivers must allow passengers to install. - See more at: http://www.nyc.com/visitor_guide/taxis.75827/editorial_review.aspx#sthash.7vYInKYU.dpuf

Thanks a lot! Maybe we should try dial 7 and find out what type of carseat they provide. My last contact with Carmel gave the same response as you provided. Thanks again!
