2Oregonians Posted March 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2013 I check my cruise every now and then to see if the price has gone down. I also like to see what rooms around us are still empty. So tonight I got on and put in all the info, and it ends up only offering me a Guarantee, not the usual "pick your room". What gives?
rvsullivan Posted March 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2013 What kind of cabin? Usually when that happens it's near sold out. Could be a glitch in the system also.
Unknotted Posted March 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2013 You're going to Alaska in July. That's a premium itinerary at a premium time....my guess is it is nearly sold out.
2Oregonians Posted March 8, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted March 8, 2013 Ok. That probably explains it. Thanks. And yet... nobody is on my roll call. Go figure!
2Oregonians Posted March 8, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted March 8, 2013 Ok. That probably explains it. Thanks. And yet... nobody is on my roll call. Go figure! Oh yes, 1 group finally joined it. I've been on much more popular roll calls in the past. Kinda sad!

hladygirl Posted March 9, 2013 #7 Share Posted March 9, 2013 We are on the dawn 11/1/13. It is now only allowing guarantee rooms in almost all categories. This is 14 night cruise that had plenty of cabins a few weeks ago. Don't know what's up with that.
bonvoyagie Posted March 9, 2013 #8 Share Posted March 9, 2013 I saw this happen last year on my cruise - the prices went up and the rooms went away - then just after final payment was due prices went way down and rooms were everywhere. My TA told me that large TAs can and do lock up rooms for up to 6 mos - if they don't sell them they simply turn them back in to NCL - which creates last minute deals - the upsell fairy etc etc. July is peak season for AK and we are well within the 6 mo time frame.
