1st time post from 1st time cruise.

I have been watching the forums for some time now, but this is my first post. I am going on my first cruise in December on RCCL, Freedom of the Seas. After reading many reviews, I opted for the Owners Suite. It's just my friend and I.

My biggest concern is getting seasick. I have terrible motion sickness, but I will have medication from my doctor. I opted for midship, and more space with a bigger balcony. The perks all seem wonderful but I am concerned about getting off the ship in time to make my 1pm flight. Do we get to leave the ship without having to stand in a line of 1000 people? Also, we will be in room 1648, when I booked the room the lady told me there are two showers? I'm seeing mixed reviews on this, does anyone have the answer? I know there is a shower and tub, but maybe a shower in the tub? Are there better days to check if the price goes lower? I read here you can get a refund if they lower the price. I hope mine goes lower. :)

Lastly, I think I will take out the insurance but have a question. If we would need to see the doctor on the ship, is that visit covered?

Sorry it's so long, a little anxious being my first cruise. Please send any advice my way and thanks in advance. I really enjoy reading every post.

Congratulations on booking your 1st cruise.

Barring something catastophic, you should have no problem making your 1 pm flight even if you are the very last people off the ship.

In certain higher suites some cruise lines offer concierge service that escorts select passangers off the ship earlier than everybody else. Check with the RCL boards to determine if they do this & if your cabin qualifies.

If you aren't sure you get seasick, taking very strong prescription medication will make you worse. Talk to your doctor in detail.

What is and isn't covered by your travel insurance depends on the policy. If you coverage should you visit the doctor on board, make sure you purchase insurance with that feature. You can compare policies on websites like www.insuremytrip.com

I, too, get pretty bad motion sickness ON LAND. I can't ride carnival rides anymore, nor ride in the backseat of a car for very long. I get nauseous when my plane ride gets too bumpy. I feel pathetic!

Anyway, I've been on two cruises now (22 days total) and had no issues with sea sickness (one exception coming up). We always had cabins near the front, which are supposed to be the worst. But I had no issues...until the very last day of our 2nd cruise. The seas got REALLY rough (and the crew knew it and everything outside was closed down...I'm not just exaggerating.) I did spend a bit of that day feeling off, and I took a dose of non-drowsy dramamine (over the counter stuff). But other than that exception (and there were A LOT of sick looking folks everywhere) I was ABSOLUTELY fine. So yes, stock up on meds, start taking ginger a few days before sailing, etc...but I'd also say there's a good chance you'll be fine!

Thank you for your help. I posted where you suggested. I'm sure I will have a great time just like everyone says. :)

REALX, and keep an open mind.. :) You'll constanly hear about cruises being either a 4 or 5 star 'hotel on the seas. But even 5 star hotels have minor problems. However, if you've booked a 'owners suit' for your very first cruise, then your problems should be VERY,VERY few. I think those suites have their very own concierge, so he or she will most definitly take very good care of all your wants. Hopefully, you'll fall in love AND bcome addictive to crusing. BUT,if not, you can say you tried it.

GOOD luck, and SMOOTH sailing !!;)
