Have you ever met someone famous on a cruise?

Derf - I'd vote for "say nothing". I have a friend who went out to dinner with her DH in Providence a couple weekends ago. In walks Danny Devito, Rhea Perlman and their daughters. Nobody at all bothered them or asked for autographs. I think their daughters go to Brown. Hey, celebrities are also people who should be able to eat a nice dinner without getting bothered every 2 seconds for an autograph. But a spotting is fun to talk about!

When you see someone famous do you

1. Yell scream and faint

2. Say I know who you are, You are you.

3. Nothing

4. Point him/her out. Look who it is.

5. Post it on CruseCritic

6. Ask for an autograph

I choose # 6.... You ask for two autographs.. One for yourself and the other to sell on Ebay.... ;)

unless of course I meet character28.gif Tom Welling then I would choose #1 ---faint.gif

in Dubuque, IA. so without me going into detail, you can imagine that we have 2 gates and 1 small luggage carousel at our dinky airport and not many celebs have been spotted, LOL. :D

about 3 1/2 years ago, my daughter was about 2. Tone Loc ("Funky Cold Medina", had some small roles in some decent movies) was playing a local bar (kind of depressing and made me, at 28 at the time, feel kind of old, LOL). My grandma was flying out that day, so we had been waiting for her flight with her, and here comes a small "entourage" of about 10 large, well-dressed, African-American gentlemen. Well Tone got on the phone, and the minute I heard his voice, it was obvious who he was. We got to chatting with some of his friends, one who turned out to be his brother, talking about kids, etc. And my daughter, who had been playing quietly and wandering around the room, walks up to Tone and says, "Daddy?". EVERYONE busted out laughing. I didn't let on that I knew who he was until they were leaving to board the plane (the same flight my grandma was on). Tone's brother grabbed my grandma's bags and offered her his arm to help her to the plane. As they were walking out the door, after giving grandma a little smooch, I said to Tone's brother, "tell your brother I LOVED him in 'Fern Gully'" and he smiled and chuckled. ("Fern Gully" is an animated kids movie, where Tone provided the voice for a big lizard, LOL).

I am a die hard Boston Red Sox fan and found myself on a Yankee Cruise. We met Wade Boggs, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada and David Cone. What a nightmare for me. We also cruised with Merlin Olsen, football hall of famer and star of Little House on the Prairie. He was a real down to earth guy.

My husband and I have a running argument about Lauren Bacall on a Spirit cruise a few years back. He swears it was her- I say it wasn't because 1) she was in a wheel chair full time with an assistant to push her and I have seen her mobile subsequently and 2) why would she be on a Carnival ship, particulary one as ugly as that one if she wasn't "performing." I heard people that flat out asked if she was Lauren Bacall she gave vague answers like "I am my daughter's mother." But quite a few treated her as if she was.

I've cruised ever Dec. since 2001 with Rusty and Patty Wallace......going again this year! This cruise is a blast! Just Rusty, Patty, me and 1399 other Rusty fans :)

JoAnn

We're going on our first cruise this yr, my first choice was the Rusty Cruise ( HUGE Rusty fans GO RUSTY) but couldn't go during that wk, I was soo mad.

I'm hoping even though it's his last yr in Nascar that he'll still do the cruises so we can go next yr :)

never cruised before so haven't cruised with any famous ppl, but since ppl are posting "other famous meetings" I thought I'd post mine. WE went to TX on an emergency as BIL had a massive heart attack and stroke March 3 yrs ago, flying back in the first leg everyone was going crazy about this guy, dh and I had NO idea who it was, I finally asked a girl taking a picture who the heck it was and she was like OMG you don't know it's ( insert name here) we were like ok, who is that, well apparently it's so famous WWF wrestler, ( right now the name escapes me cuz we're not into that wrestling stuff) I got a few pics as I knew my son was into it at the time, but for now the name escapes me but at the time ( 3 yrs ago) he was supposedly the hottest/best person in the WWF, lol

Then on the next leg of the flight, we were waiting at the gate area when a group of ppl come walking up and security was all around him, ppl jumped up and started clapping, we finally got a peek and it was John Glenn the astronaunt.

He was seated in first class as we walked by, and I swear he said hi and smiled at each and every person walking past, he was sooooo nice about it.

There was a guy on our NCL cruise last June who wore a GIANT superbowl ring on his hand. He stood next to my DH a couple times in the buffet line, and once in the casino. Neither of us could put a name to his face, but he was a big guy, and that ring was HUGE!!!!

My first Carnival cruise is in October and I was worried that I would be traveling with a bunch of common folk , but now, after reading all of your "famous" encounters, I know it may be an interesting cruise afterall. (?)

Just kidding - I work in the entertainment business - ( business side ) - and really dislike the whole entertainment atmosphere.

Living in Hollywood Hills most of my neighbors are what the general public considers "famous". I know many of them well, and, IMO, some, if not many, are phony, insecure - but yet extremely judgemental, very angry too - GO FIGURE!

I wouldn't want their lives as their anonymity is something only they can reminess. I've been in a neighborhood park where several of my "famous" neighbors frequent and was amazed at how the paparazzi invade their lives - but they, the "famous" people, choose that life - Sadly, I feel, many of them didn't know just how much they were giving up to have their $ multi-million contracts.

Interesting!!

What part of the industry do you work in??

I had a music video shot in my condo in Miami Beach. I can tell you that I could not believe how badly the production companies involved treat us "common folk"... Including the my neighboors, condo association and myself. Then they turn around and bad mouth the "artist" and then kiss there behind afterwards....

It has been an experience that I would never do again no matter how much money would be thrown in my face.

I met two famous singers. One was very nice and the other was horrible... I agree most are phony and can careless about their fans just by the attitude shown and the way the certain crew members described other famous people they have worked with.

My vote would go for Jennifer Garner (of jen&ben fame or Alias)? This smile looks right and so does the hair color & frame

Just a guess:rolleyes:

Karen

She is way too young to be CC. She is mid to late twenties about 5'10''. I will have to check out some pics of Jennifer.

I was on a cruise out of NYC to the caribbean and Richard Hatch of Season One Survivor was on board. Got a photo taken with him outside the gift shop. He was very friendly and accomodating to people wanting pics, etc. He also hosted a nearly two hour long Q & A session in one of the lounges so that he could get on with enjoying his vacation.

Maybe someone here can help me out. We were at Razoo's on Bourbon Street a few months ago and there was a girl there with an entourage.(ie: bodyguards, friends etc.) Haven't yet identified her. Anyone? The one in the tan jacket...

Being a HUGE Alias Fan and owning all the season and watching all her movies I can tell you 100% that is NOT Jennifer Gardner....

Last August, on The Conquest, we met Sam Elliot and his family. He's been in several westerns on TV and in the movies. He had a great supporting part in The Big Lebowski.

They were on there celebrating his 60th birthday; and for 60 he's really well muscled and obviously keeps in shape.

Mrs. B thought he looked familiar. "Dosen't he live in near us?" "No dear, that's Sam Elliot". "Who?"
