Rare Fletcher Posted March 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2013 The US-based high-end expedition company Lindblad has taken over the Australian expedition company Orion and will operate the ship from March 2014. I travelled on Orion about five years ago to Melanesia and had a fabulous time. I still think the Orion is the best ship I've ever been on. However, Orion seem to have been in trouble in recent years - they acquired a second ship and started trips to SE Asia and Japan and then returned the ship after only a year of operation. The original Orion had a very limited set of itineraries repeated year-after-year and huge discounts have been available lately. Lindblad say Orion will become a more global presence. I wish it and everyone at Orion well. The press release is here: http://www.orionexpeditions.com/images/pdf/announcement.pdf
