All Things Liberty 2.0

We've had the pleasure of sailing the Liberty pre-2.0 and 2x post 2.0.

Personally, I love the Blue Iguana Cantina. Good food, lots of options, and a full salsa bar. Delish!

BlueIguana Tequila Bar - didn't spend much time there.

I have not tried a Guy's Burger (I can hear the gasping!!). Funny story. On our most recent trip, we were sitting next to a gentleman who had the biggest burger I've ever seen - and enjoying it like it was the best food he'd ever eaten. It was pure joy. My DH says they're average - I think the toppings make the burger.

Punchliner Brunch was pretty good. The tomato soup was quite yummy, and the service was good. Look for your free drink ticket - which you can only use at brunch.

We had the 6:15 dinner seating, so never tried the Taste Bar. We did miss the sushi bar, though.

Alchemy Bar - excellent. The Chipotle Martini is not to be missed!

Cherry on Top - never went in.

EA Sports Bar - never went in. Saw people playing video games and watching televised sports.

While I do miss the steel drums, I thought the post 2.0 DJ Irie inspired music was very good. Good mix, and everyone seemed to have a great time.

Overall, I think the 2.0 additions are great!

Don't know that I've got any secrets to share, but I enjoyed Liberty so much that I'm going again in December. Gotta agree with soccersharon that the Blue Iguana Cantina is great...so great that I'm considering skipping MDR this cruise and getting by on the buffet, the deli and Blue Iguana.

I've also gotta agree with soccersharon's DH that Guy's Burgers are sort of blah. However, I have to add that I'm no expert on burgers. And although I'm not crazy about the blasting music played by Carnival's DJs, the DJ on Liberty had remarkably similar tastes in music selection as me, so I found it enjoyable for once.

Sailing on the Liberty on April 6th and would like to know all the tips/tricks/secrets on board!

My family and I LOVED the Liberty!! We enjoyed our balcony room and had great food each night in the restaurant. Make sure you go to the comedy shows. We enjoyed both the PG and the Adult shows. We got the Cheers program, but next time we won't. We are not 21 anymore...while I did get my fill, I think I forced myself to drink more than I ordinary would have. If you have the chance, try a chocolate martini. Very good!

The one thing I did that made me LOL was I wanted to make sure I had a chair to lay out on Sea Days (last year on the Dream I was not as tricky)...well the first day I got up at 6 am....and was apparently the ONLY person awake on the ship!! NO one else had my idea of getting a chair...I could have slept to at least 7:30 maybe even 8!! BUT HEY, I GOT MY CHAIR! The second sea day I slept in until 7.... still got a chair. There were a few people there...but not a crowd! (This was the adults only area....the other area was starting to get full....of towels.)

I never did speak to our room steward. When we sailed the Dream last March, we spoke to our steward a couple of times, but I couldn't tell you what our steward's name was this time--although my husband did speak to him at least once. The dining room staff was wonderful and when we needed to change our table, there was no problem at all. We enjoyed the food overall, although not the best in the world, we were satisfied!!

Guys Burgers were great and so were the fish tacos and yummy shrimp and steak burritos! This was a huge improvement from our last trip on the Dream, as well as the pizza. Good stuff!

We got an email telling us not to come to the port of Miami until 1...well we got there at 11 am and were on the ship by 11:30! The people who paid for FTTF...hmmmm...well got called on like 2 minutes later--we were zone 2 or 3.

A piece of advice I have is to take the professional pictures the ship offers. You are under no obligation or buy them. Last year we declined most of the time and this time, we had the pictures taken. We are glad we did. We have some great professional pictures that we wouldn't have had otherwise--but we were not under obligation to buy them! Win win for us!

Well I hope I gave you some information that helped!

We're returning to the Liberty this May for our second cruise on her. If you want to get away from the crowd and the noise at the main pool, go to the "Adults only" pool at the rear of the Lido deck. It's much quieter and not very crowded. Just a heads up: The wooden deck around the pool gets really HOT under the Caribbean sun, so you'll definitely need flip-flops (or sandals) to protect your feet. If you plan on going to see one of the comedians, typically in the Victoria Aft Lounge, get there early, because the seats fill up quickly. As an alternative to the buffet or Guy's Burgers for lunch, give the burrito bar a try. Also, there is the fish and chips station on Deck 10 just above the buffet area. To get there, go to the rear of the buffet area and you'll see stairs that lead up to the fish and chips area. If you're looking for a latte or some mid-day sweets, go to Jardin's Cafe on the Promenade deck just past the casino. And, if you have a balcony cabin, the balcony is the perfect place to sit with your sweetie at night to watch the submarine races.:D Hope you have perfect weather and a great cruise!

Sage advice. My mom blistered her feet on that deck last October, and there was another woman being treated in the Med Ctr for the same reason.

But, that area was awesome and a great place to get away from all the noise near the mid-ship pool.

Absolutely agree on the burrito bar -- I just wish it was open later into the evening, like Guys Burger Joint (which was awesome).

My sister loved the Fish & Chips place...we just wish we'd discovered it before the middle of our cruise! It is not the easiest place to find!

Jardin's was great! Yeah, we had to spend some extra money, but those cakes and pies would cost $7 or $8 back on land at an upscale 24-hour diner.

As for the balcony, we were very lucky to get moved from an OV to a balcony due to an A/C problem in our original stateroom. I can't afford to get one in the future too often, but wow, it was awesome!

To the OP, you'll have a great cruise! Aside from the stateroom issue and some unusually bad service in the MDR, we loved the ship and the 2.0 upgrades. Have fun!

You can use your free drink ticket at breakfast or brunch in the MDR. We had Mimosas for b'fast the 1st leg of our B2B.

On the 2nd leg of our B2B we went to the MDR around noon, ordered our drinks (Mocha Chocolate Meltaway {yummy}) and took them with us to the Buffet for lunch.
