Letter from GoCCL to Travel Agents regarding price drops and upgrades

I am a home based TA and had 6 cabins booked paid in full. Got good upgrades on all... but was on the phone holding for at least 30 minutes and then took about an hour to get it all done. I had already gotten 140-180 on previous price drops. Yes if you are paid in full there is a possibility for good upgrades.

Thanks for the info, but I am happy with my ext.aft and there are none left. Also all suites seem to be gone. Is there any possibility of getting OBC? Booked casino rate.

TA called me back, I sent her the letter since she hadn't received it. She called and was told I would get an email if upgrades were available. She asked for a supervisor and was given a different number to call. I sail in 2 weeks and there is a $400 price difference. I wonder how they will look out for past guests who booked while on a cruise. There really isn't much to upgrade to on the Paradise, showing all suites/balconies booked but still they should do something for me. My category is not sold out. Waiting to hear back.

Patiently waiting:cool:

I am also a home based TA and had a VERY DIFFERENT outcome. Were the cabins you are talking about booked using the ES fare code? I can understand it if they were ES. If they weren't, I'm seriously pi$$ed.

Dear Travel Agents,

During the last couple of months since the Carnival Triumph fire, we’ve received an enormous show of support from our Past Guests.

Corporate speak!

What it really means is:

"During the last couple of months since the Carnival Triumph fire, our bookings have decreased and people are flocking to other cruise lines. Now, we are in panic mode and need to do something like offer free upgrades..."

On hold for about 30 minutes...$400 savings staying in my 8E category. Agent said the phones are ringing off the hooks! Ya think LOL. Thanks alaught for the info!!!!!

I just got a nice price reduction and room upgrade!

I'm glad that people are benefitting, however, when talking about price reductions and upgrade, it would help to know if you booked ES when making your reservation. Thanks,

I had booked under a past guest rate and got the reduced price/upgrade. I was 1 day away from final payment. I called my PVP directly. I did have to sit on hold for sometime as he had to have a manager update my booking.

Was not booked as a past guest, although the PVP indicated those prices have dropped. My final payment is due next week.

They don't have to be booked under ES to get the upgrade and they can be past final payment. Remember this only applies if the price is lower than what they booked at. If it's the same price or higher they won't get any upgrade.

Past final payment, no ext afts left (cabin I booked), no suites left, booked casino rate. Any point in calling Carnival to look for OBC? Breeze S> Carib. price for May 2013 prices are down around $350. per cabin for 2

its clearly says "past guest", so what if you are a past guest that booked past guest and not early saver?? this makes ZERO SENSE!!

When you book a fare code, you agree to the terms of that fare code. Price reductions are not eligible for the Past Guest rate after final payment date. If you want to take full advantage of price reductions, you have to book the rate code that allows that.

Gave it a shot I was paid 100% we added a 3rd person and the rate was 30.00 Plus taxes and got 200.00 OBC for the booking

This is awsome

What fare were you booked under? Did you upgrade and get OBC?
