LonghornMike Posted June 12, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2005 Anyone else see the show on the Learning Channel about the all the updates they made to the Sovereign of the Seas while it was in dry dock? I thought it was a cool program no matter what cruise line you prefer. Anyone who is interested in seeing the last 3 episodes ( there are 5 total) can see them back to back starting tonight at 7:00 central (At least that is when it is being played here in Houston)
Wennfred Posted June 12, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2005 Good to know thanks, They are currently showing Trading spaces, hope it starts after that.
derf5585 Posted June 12, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2005 I wonder who paid who. Did the cruise line get money for being taped? Did the network get money for promoting the cruise line?
LonghornMike Posted June 13, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted June 13, 2005 A friend of mine who works for RCL said that RCL was using the show as an "info-mercial" of sorts. They were trying to show off some of the upgrades they are making to the older ships in their fleet.
IBRelaxin2 Posted June 13, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 13, 2005 Not sure if the commercials are the same on each cable network, but anyone else find it funny that each break pretty much during the show there is a Carnival commercial, I've yet to see one RCL during the show. pholter Posted June 13, 2005 #6 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I'm enjoying the shows alot.... However, now I have 4 different shows at 8pm! What's a girl to do :)

ladycaveat Posted June 13, 2005 #8 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I wonder if this is the same show that was on the Discovery Channel a couple weeks ago? If so . . . it was very interesting.
LonghornMike Posted June 13, 2005 Author #9 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I am not sure who paid for it, but it is a pretty ingenious idea. It shows off all the different parts of the ship, but in a way that makes it fun to watch...
IBRelaxin2 Posted June 13, 2005 #10 Share Posted June 13, 2005 And it was the first episode so I got hooked, watched both of the first episodes in a row. Pretty interesting. Also found the one Bravo, Bravo, Bravo funny... the CPT is talking about safety and low and behold... a fire...
derf5585 Posted June 13, 2005 #11 Share Posted June 13, 2005 the CPT is talking about safety and low and behold... a fire... Great timing. Almost as if they scripted it that way. I work at WHYY-TV so that's why I am very spectable. (is that the right spelling or word?)
Cruising89143 Posted June 13, 2005 #12 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I've yet to see a Carnival commercial or any cruise line for that matter.
big_duck Posted June 13, 2005 #13 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I've yet to see a Carnival commercial or any cruise line for that matter. Gordon you must not watch a lot of TV because both Carnival and RCI have about three different ones each.
DaytonCruiser Posted June 13, 2005 #14 Share Posted June 13, 2005 Gordon you must not watch a lot of TV because both Carnival and RCI have about three different ones each. I think he meant during the broadcast of tonight's episode. Carnival did run several commercials during the re-broadcast during the week.
Cruising89143 Posted June 13, 2005 #15 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I think he meant during the broadcast of tonight's episode. Carnival did run several commercials during the re-broadcast during the week. That's what I was referring to. I just saw a RCI commercial. I guess Carnival is running them in just certain markets as I saw none last week either during this show.
pholter Posted June 13, 2005 #16 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I haven't seen a cruiseline commercial tonight at all, but I may have been in my office typing here on CC during them. I can usually hear the music and know which ones they are though. Maybe they are only running them in certain regions.
LonghornMike Posted June 13, 2005 Author #17 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I would agree that I have not seen any Cruise line commercials here in Houston, but then again with Tivo, I don't see many commercials at all!!
Jenna1983 Posted June 13, 2005 #18 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I've only seen RCI commercials, during Trading spaces & Trading Spaces family. All I keep getting is that "Mike hasn't seen his wife since she weighed 240 pounds. she now weights 139" commericals constantly. Last week it was the dad jumping out of the box.
