getting to tampa port

Does anyone know what the best way and cheapest way to get to the Tampa Port from downtown would be? We are looking at booking our hotel through groupon and wont know the name of the hotel right away except it is a 4 star overlooking the Bay and shuttle to the Port is not available.

Taxi from the airport will be $25+tip, so from downtown it shoudl be less. A couple of the nice places (Embassy Suites, Marriott) are walking distance. Good luck! :)

We sailed out of Tampa last year and caught a cab (minivan) from our hotel (Intercontinental)...not only was it easy, but it was also not that expensive. I seem to recall it wasn't more than $25-30...for 4 people and luggage...not bad.

I am thinking about this also. From the research I have done, I believe it is the Doubletree Suites. The ratings on match the websites they have listed. It is normally around $110 refundable. They do offer a shuttle the hotel said to the cruise port from an outside vendor for $10 Per Person. Still have a few days to decide. I am not 100% sure this is the hotel; but everything does match the description.
