Celebrity vs. Princess vs. RCCL

Help,

I am trying to decide between three cruises to the same places (basically) for the same price (basically). They are:

RCCL Mariner or Navigator

Caribbean Princess

Celebrity Millenium

If anyone has travelled on two of these please give me your comparisons. We are two couples in our 30s travelling without our children. We want to eat yummy food (but it doesn't have to be total gourmet), keep busy with fun activities, and be treated nicely by staff.

Mariner is a wonderful ship and newer than the Navigator, both Voyager Class.Loved our cruise on the Mariner last year. Although I love Princess, the Caribbean Princess is a grand class ship with an extra deck of staterooms with no additional public space, so more crowded than other Grand class ships. We loved our Golden princess cruise in January, which is a Grand class. Haven't been on Celebrity, so can't help you there.

If you like lots of activities like rock climbing, ice skating, arcades, love a mall experience, then the Mariner or Navigator are for you. The Caribbean Princess, even with the extra deck of rooms might cater to you better. Great dance places, adult games, movies under the stars (MUTS) by the pool etc. I think Princess food is better than RCCl voyager class. Celebrity is a small step above the other lines in service and food from what I have read on these boards. Food might be better but dont know about activities.

Sailed all three cruise lines. SERVICE & FOOD will be best on Celebrity and there will be tons of pool towels. Both Princess and RCCL have a one pool towel limit, given to you by the room steward. If you need another towel, you will have to look him up. Also, the Millenium has a Thalassotherapy Pool that you will love. Just came back from the Caribbean Princess. Since the takeover by Carnival, service and food seems to be better.

Do some homework, if all three are the same price, something is wrong. When I booked for the Caribbean Princess, the Millenium was around $500.00 PP more for the same about and around type room. Never checked into the price on RCCL.

At the same price, I'd choose Celebrity. The Caribbean Princess isn't my idea of a good innovation. We enjoyed our cruises on the other Grand-class ships but can't imaging how adding more people would be anything but more crowded and less enjoyable.

I don't like RCCL personally. Too crowded..too many kids..embarkation and disembarkation is a nightmare. The food is so so..trying to have quiet dinner in the main dining room is almost impossible with all the singing and dancing going on.. and with so many people onboard, the service is lacking on the voyager class.

And if you chose a cruise line because of the hamburgers, than RCCL and Carnival are right up your alley. If you want to be taken care of and have a relaxing time with excellant food and service, take Celebrity. It all about what you want in your cruise experience.

Hope it help,

Jeff

I do not like Celebrity because of the average age is about 25 years older than me. RCCL has a good amount of people aged 30-45 instead of 75-110.

When we went on the Voyager it was overbooked with families in the summer and we never waited in one line or never had a problem with getting chairs or seats in the casino. Choosing the late seating avoided any children and it was a very peaceful meal.

Yea the singing was a little wierd, but it was kinda fun also.

We do not like Celebrity. Too sedate for us and we're in our fifties. We love RCCL and Princess. RCCL is probably a little livelier than Princess but there really isn't a lot of difference in the 2 lines. The crew on RCCL is friendlier and more relaxed; however, our favorite room stewart was on Princess. Whichever line you choose, I'm sure you will have a great time. :)

The best cruise is the one that suits your needs, wants and pocketbook. Skating rinks and rock climbing walls are only useful if you use them, otherwise they add no value to your cruise. That's what makes it hard for others to suggest what might be best as they probably don't have your same interests!

I'd start by looking up ship's daily activity schedule and find out what the activities are and see what interests you and what you'd partake in.

NONE of these ships will have horrible food. There are enough dining options on all to keep you happy.

As far as crowds and kids, that changes depending on when you sail. July, yes, lots of crowds and kids, same for the holidays. Travel off peak and things change.

The other thing you might want to look at is cabin selection. I am picky about my cabin. A particular location can sway me from one ship to another!

While there are many options to consider most people make or break their own good times. What ever you choose, you're going with friends and you are sure to enjoy yourself.

Good luck to you.

Well that's why there are so many choices. I like X, you guys like RCCL. Doesn't matter what you all choose..I'm not paying for it :).It's all what you like..Which I stated in my last post.

Relax people. Don't get your knickers in a knot :D
