Gift Certificate(s) for HAL

Does anyone have any experience with redeeming gift certificates through HAL? Specifically, Discover Card offers cashback bonus awards which can be redeemed for certificates from HAL for double the amount. I figured I would pay for my cruise with Discover so I can rack up the rewards and then cash in shortly before my cruise.

 

How do I go about redeeming these certificates through HAL? Is it safe to assume that they will be readily accepted for a credit on my shipboard account? Do I just present them to the purser's desk? If so, do I submit them at the beginning of the cruise or at the end before they settle up my account?

 

Any information is greatly appreciated.

The Discover Card website says:

Certificates must be redeemed through Touraid Travel Cruise and Vacation Desk at 1-888-275-5605.

Ah, see I knew it was too good to be true. Well I guess I won't use Discover to pay for my cruise. BTW they don't make this information easy to find IMO.

I agree, they don't make it clear.

 

I ordered my Discover bonus money, over $400, hoping to use it at my local T.A. for my deposit. Found out you can only use it at that certain agency. Very deceiving.

Well I guess I can always redeem my cashback bonus awards for cash that I can use on my cruise.
