Sumar76 Posted April 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2013 On a 4 day land pre-cruise. So on the DAT of embarkation, we are taking the long trip via Princess train to Anchorage. I had done the train 15 years ago but cannot remember. Are there assigned seats? When you get up to go to observation car, to eat, or just walk around, can you leave your carry on at the seat? I guess I'd have to take it if my papers, important stuff was in it... But how about clothes bag? Do you come back to the same seat? Also does the train stop in Anchorage then do we take a bus to Whittier? 15 years ago, I did it reverse ,cruise first but honestly cannot remember all the details. I'm sure others will know..thanks
Budget Queen Posted April 12, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2013 You are going Denali to Whittier, NOT Anchorage. It is a 10 hour ride, with the last 2 hours the stand out scenery. Yes your seats are assigned with Princess having table seating of 4. So 2 people ride backwards the entire trip. Your carry on has to fit under or between the seat. It's up to you, if you want to leave them or not. Not sure what you mean by "clothes" bag, but your luggage is NOT with you. Think an airline seat for a carry on size, there is no overhead storage. Sumar76 Posted April 13, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted April 13, 2013 Thanks Budget Queen. I understand it better now. Glad the train goes right to Whittier.
