Skype on Oasis

Does anyone have any experience using Skype on Oasis? We're leaving our 13-month old son at home and would like to communicate with him. Thanks!

if the internet is similar to what was on the Allure, it will be difficult. Probably can get audio, but video with the sloooow speeds will be challenging.

Best way is to find internet cafe or wifi in port.

We used Skype daily to talk with our kids last week on Allure. No video but we didn't even try. It worked great for what we needed, a little lag but nothing major.

We were able to skype last week on the Allure also (we did get the video to work, but it was a little choppy at times). Great way to give us peace of mind with the MIL watching our 16 month old!!

I can't imagine skype working well. The internet speeds on any cruise ship I've been on are deathly slow. We buy a calling card at each stop and call home at the end of the day just before you get back on the ship. Can't hurt to try skype and I'd be interested to hear how it was.

It just depends on when you use it. On a sea day when everyone else is trying to get online ... it's going to be bad. In port when most are off the ship you might have a better chance.
