Acropolis hours on Monday

We will be in Athens on Monday, September 30, 2013. I have heard that the Acropolis doesn't open until 11am on Monday's (Athens info guide) but have also read that that is not true & that it opens at 8am (also confirmed by tour operator that we hope to use. Anyone been there on a Monday that can tell me? I am aware that the museum is closed on Monday's.

I haven't been on a Monday, but local experts on the Athens Tripadvisor forum who I trust very much from past experience have said uniformly that the Acropolis IS open on Monday mornings.

 

I would believe them (and your guide) over some possibly outdated or incorrect guidebook or website.

 

The problem with many websites is that they are never updated and often it's hard to figure out when they were last looked at or changed.

Open Mondays from 8 am till 4 pm will be the Acropolis Museum from 1 April until 31 October to respond to the increased number of visitors to our country during this period.

 

Specifically, the opening hours of the museum will be as follows:

 

Monday: 8:00 a.m. - 4 pm

Tuesday to Sunday: 8:00 a.m. - 8 pm

Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 10 pm
