Restaurants and non fried foods

Just booked the Elation for end of October and is even a post with restaurant recommendations for ACME Oyster and some other restaurants but when I look at their menus the seafood seems to be all fried. We don't eat fried foods for health reasons. Do these places have grilled or broiled seafood or do you know of any places that serve non fried foods.

Acme serves a lot of fried seafood and fried poboys. Redfish grill and Bourbon House are two that I know of that sell a good bit of non fried seafood although those restaurants are a bit more expensive. BubbaGump Shrimp Co. serves a lot of grilled shrimp entrees, grilled fish entrees also steamed crab legs. The majority of restaurants in NOLA have menus outside so you can get a good idea of what different places serve. Enjoy your vacay!

Go to Galatoire's (209 Bourbon Street). Great non-fried seafood.

Galatoire's is a storied and fabulous restaurant--one of my favorites with Commander's Palace--but a place you might enjoy is G.W. Fins. But the bottom line is that except for the least expensive or some truly tourist places in the French Quarter, you can find grilled and broiled seafood anywhere.

Cafe Amelie is a nice place that serves many non-fried selections.

It's on Royal near the Andrew Jackson Hotel.

The metropolitan area has more restaurants today than it had before Katrina. Food is a passion in New Orleans and throughout south Louisiana. And keep in mind that the restaurant industry serves countless thousands of tourists because of the number of conventions and major events held in the city. The French Quarter festival was just about three weeks ago and the Jazz Fest will be ending this weekend. Also, because the local restaurants are so strong and because the city is relatively insular with a high percentage of natives, the percentage of chain restaurants in the city is much lower than in other cities.

 

If you are staying in the French Quarter or Warehouse District area, you have literally hundreds of restaurants from which to choose. The real question is how much do you want to spend. You can eat very well in New Orleans on a limited budget, and the cost of eating in the city's best restaurants, for the most part, is less than that of eating at the best restaurants in some other cities.

 

But you could spend a month in New Orleans, have seafood every night, and never have a taste of anything fried.
