Early Stingray Excursion, then what???

We are doing a Stingray City excursion, in Grand Cayman, that we booked through our cruise line. It departs at 8AM and returns at 10:30AM. Since we have such an early excursion, we were wanting to do something else, time permitting, AFTER the rays. We are interested in shopping and lunch, etc. Unless there is another exciting thing we can do and still have time to make the last tender to the ship.

Any ideas, guys and girls? Are there any shops etc, near the cruise port that we could just walk to? Or would we need taxi? And are taxis safe in Grand Cayman? Also if anyone could recommend a good place to eat, that's not too expensive, that would be great! I appreciate all help!:D

There are lots of shops, restaurants and bars right near the tender drop off dock.

You could take a taxi or a bus to the Turtle farm!

turtle farm is neat and wont take up a ton of time. or head to 7 mile beach nearby and relax for awhile. There are a few shops in port but most seem to sell a lot of the same touristy stuff

Ask your excursion provider to drop you somewhere along seven mile beach, or walk to the library across from the port and take a "bus" (which is actually a van) for $2.50/person. If you want lounge chairs and umbrellas to rent a bar/restaurant available head to the Royal Palms or Public Beach sections. If you want less crowds, shade trees, and off-shore snorkeling head to the cemetery beach section. The entire beach is open to the public and beautiful.
