?'s - Kids club on PoA

I have an 8 year old who will be sailing with us in June/July. While he does love vacation and family time he always misses time to just play with other kids. (Even when we do Disney he still longs to just play with others at some point)

 

I understand that the kids club has a fee when in port but can anyone tell me more about it? (activities/events/hours etc)

 

I'm not wanting to put him in there and leave the ship - but, for example, when we have gone ashore and are ready to return (thinking of the 2 day stops).

 

The NCL website really talks up the kids clubs but I think it is much more limited on PoA than the rest of the ships due to the port intensive itinerary.

 

Oh, and I'd appreciate recent info. The only posts I could find were from 2005 and a lot has probably changed since then...
