vetcruiser Posted June 18, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2005 I will be cruising the Mexican Riviera next April out of San Francisco. I plan on flying in day before and need some help with finding a hotel. I have never been to SF before and am not at all familiar with the area. Would like a hotel reasonably close to the airport and also close to cruise terminal if at all possible. I'm not looking necessarily for five star but don't want a dump either. If I use Priceline, what area do I need to look in? Any suggestions are appreciated.
Rare Lois R Posted June 18, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2005 Hi:) I sailed from SF last year and had a marvelous time. You cannot stay near the airport and near the cruise terminal at the same time (they are not near each other). I would suggest staying at Fisherman's Wharf. It is located near the pier, lots of things are very walkable and if you have never been to SF is it a must see:D (In my opinion) A lot of people are going to tell you the Wharf is full of tourists..well, it is! But it is a wonderful experience. Lots of hotels, restaurants, Ghirahelli Square, Cable Cars.....all things you can walk to...and the Piers for the ships are very close too. Anyway, you might want to check Priceline for "Fisherman's Wharf" But not sure if June is a bit far away for trying to bid on a room for April but you can always give it a shot. Oh, did you do a search on here? I think a few pages back you can find some more information. Good luck and have a wonderful cruise:)
IggleDoer Posted June 18, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2005 An interesting small hotel near Fisherman's Wharf is the Argonaut hotel. It has a nautical theme that may help get you in the mood for the cruise. It is about a mile to the cruise pier.
esther e Posted June 18, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2005 I agree with Lois. It's a perfect place to stay if you're going on a cruise. And good seafood!!!! Loads to see and do. Enjoy! And think about us when you're there--we love it!!! Esther
vetcruiser Posted June 19, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted June 19, 2005 Thanks everyone for the information. I still have plenty of time but at least I have a place to start. Having never been to San Francisco, a touristy place would probably be a good place to stay.
Jeepers385 Posted June 20, 2005 #6 Share Posted June 20, 2005 We also stayed at the Argonaut (1 day pre & 2 day post) last October and loved it. Next time we go back we're definitely staying there again.:D Debbie
