e71465 Posted May 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2013 I have never done the ultimate dining experience so I have some questions. I would like to do this on our December family cruise. What did you like about it? What didn't you like about it? Is this like a meal at Sabatini's or is it more than that? Is it a fixed menu? Can they accommodate 10 of us (we plan on opening all the balcony dividers)? Do we all of us have to order the same thing? Is it really worth it? How is your meal kept hot? I would also like to hear everyone thoughts and experiences Thanks!!

I would also like to hear everyone thoughts and experiences Thanks!! We've enjoyed several UBDs & based on what we've been told it's limited to a couple of times per night so it may not be possible to do for 10. Each of our UBDs had 2 formally dressed waiters plus a room service supervisor so it takes more staff than usual. Larger Caribe deck balconies can seat 4 but standard balconies only 2 people. I'd suggest contacting room service upon embarkation to see if it's possible for your group. For us it's worth the extra price & for an extra $50 more than dinner for 2 in a specialty restaurant you get nearly $100 in extras...half bottle of champagne, cocktails, flowers & photo. The basic multi course meal (filet mignon and/or lobster entree) can be modified & even items on that evening's MDR menu can be added. Although the standard menu is more than enough food for us & we've put desert in the fridge for the next day. The food is served in courses & kept hot until ready for the next course. We've enjoyed it during an evening in Honolulu, sailaway from Costa Rica and had it in our cabin during a cold & windy sailaway from Santorini. Here's a link to the Princess info on the UBD including photos of it & the Champagne Breakfast. http://www.princess.com/learn/onboard/food_dining/ultimatebalcony/index.html Here's a link to a current UBD discussion about this regularly asked question. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1797837
