lori450 Posted May 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2013 We would love to see Monet's Garden in Giverny, but don't think it's worth the money to take a tour. Has anyone traveled from Paris to Monet's Gardens on our own? It will be in the first week of July. Thank you!!

You can take the train and then a short bus ride. You can Google the info you need which should be up-to-date.It will be crowded in July so go early. Are you staying in Paris for a few days or doing this on a day trip re cruise? Pearl64 Posted May 13, 2013 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2013 We did this trip last May. It will take all day but well worth it. Get Rick Steve's France or Paris book. He gives exact details on how to do it. We stayed near the Pompidou Center. We had to take the Metro to a station where the train station was close by. There was an English speaking agent for the train. We got our train tickets--no need for 1st class--and bus tickets from the agent at the train. They are timed to coincide. You can't miss the bus as you will just play follow the leader as everyone is going to Giverny. Once there you will want the line to the right if you want his home and gardens. The names were a little confusing. Your tickets will be marked for the times for the return trip. On our return trip it was very crowded and had to ride in the first class cars. The only problem we had was getting out of the Metro station at the end. We kept going in circles and could not get to daylight. We finally found someone who spoke English. We were almost there--just another turn and there were the steps to outside! Enjoy. It is worth it. Pearl
