Question on platinum benefit

I'm posting this question on behalf of my inlaws. They are REALLY old school, "fast computer" to them is someone good in math. They are taking another CCL cruise in Nov this year. It will be FIL's 11th CCL cruise, and MIL's 8th. So it will be his first cruise as platinum. They are wondering if they will be able to enjoy any benefit as platinum member since MIL is still at gold level.

At any rate, yes he will get all of his Platinum benefits and MIL can share.

 

Tender...she can go with him.

 

Laundry...just stuff some of her clothes in the bag.

 

VIP boarding...she will go with him because she's in the same cabin.

 

Slot/BJ tournament..it's BOGO. So he can give one to her.

 

Etc.

Assuming they are traveling in the same cabin they will both enjoy Platinum Embark, debark & tendering when together. Also dining assignments.

Only he can use the special line at guest services.

Only one gift in the cabin.

The laundry bag can be used for both their clothes, his folio number needs to be written on the bag.

Just make sure not to give her the complimentary ticket, and give her the standard one! Sometimes they do check that whoever is using the complimentary ticket is diamond/platinum.

My husband and I (both platinum) are in one cabin and my kids, ages 17 and 19, are in the cabin beside us. Since we will all be on the same sign and sail account, will there be a problem with them going with us to VIP check in?

Depends on the port. Given that one of them is 19, I'm not so sure anymore based on how they acted in Galveston. Being on the same credit card account is no longer a given that they get to board with you. I would think that at that age it would be okay, but it depends on what their cutoff is.

The best way to guarantee it is to put one platinum guest in each cabin, and then just switch when you get onboard.

It was explained to me that the increase is due to the $100,000 tournament BS. Which, if you win one of the ship's tournaments, you still get only $500. But, you can sign up for the $100,000 tournament - for a $500 entry fee. Whatever. I'll be curious to see how many people actually sign up for that tournament. Just an excuse to raise the price!

Don't forget that their cabin should be ready for them upon embarkation.. New perk for Platinum cruisers since the addition to FTTF! :D
