Tarpeian Rock Posted May 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2013 Recovering HAL-ites, can't wait until March. Looking forward to learning from all the O veterans here. Tarpeian Rock Posted May 28, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted May 28, 2013 Where are you cruising? Doing the "Mayan Mystique:" Cozumel, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Costa Maya, Grand Cayman, and Key West. We wanted our first O cruise to be a little closer to home and liked that this one begins and ends in Miami, and only one of these ports duplicates a prior cruise. But we're already salivating over some more exotic destinations.

As Rick said at the end of "Casablanca," "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." Welcome to Oceania. We are also "recovering HAL-ites" and just completed our first cruise on the Riviera last month. It was our best cruise experience ever ! Rick (but not from Casablanca) :D
Rare terry&mike Posted May 29, 2013 #7 Share Posted May 29, 2013 We have also just booked our first Oceania cruise - Oct. 22, 2014, Gems of Antiquity on Riviera - and are excited to give it a try. We have cruised quite a few times before, and wanted to step up our cruising experience. Several years ago we sailed the Tahitian Islands on one of the R ships of Renaissance, and have fond memories, so were drawn to Oceania.
pacheco18 Posted May 29, 2013 #8 Share Posted May 29, 2013 I cannot recommend strongly enough that you both join your roll calls. Oceania roll calls tend to be quite active and you will likely want to join fellow cruisers for private excursions. Oceania ship excursions are absurdly expensive (often a multiple of 3 or 4 times the cost of doing a small group private tour).
Rare terry&mike Posted May 29, 2013 #9 Share Posted May 29, 2013 I joined my roll call the day we booked, although this far out there's only one other poster. (I've never been much on ship excursions anyhow)
