TheWriteMom Posted June 2, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2013 We are taking our 6yo dd on a Mediterranean cruise this summer, Liberty of the Seas. She is very social and makes friends easily, and my plan is to occasionally put her in the kids club in the evening while we take in a show or two. Many of the posts here in CC seem to be families with multiple children or traveling with other families. It will be just be our family of 3. Does anyone see any issues with her being in the kids club without a sibling or fellow traveler? Should I have ANY concerns about the RCI kids clubs? ducklite Posted June 2, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2013 Because they are so port intensive, Med cruises are very different and exhausting. You might find that you won't have the energy for shows, nor she for the kids club. We
boulders Posted June 2, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2013 We went on Med cruises when my youngest ds was 4 (Disney) and when he was just turned 7 (HAL). His siblings are 7 and 10 years older. He had a blast and made many friends in the kids clubs. The RCI kids clubs are very good. DS sailed with them when he was 4 and 5. RCI makes sure that all the kids are engaged with the activities. I recommend them wholeheartedly. You should have no concerns.
TheWriteMom Posted June 2, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted June 2, 2013 Thanks everyone. This is very helpful. I feel pretty good about it, but my alarmist mother has me feeling a little paranoid. I don't plan on doing kids club every night but once or twice during the cruise will give me and hubby a little alone time. I just wanted to make sure she will be safe. NanciRDH Posted June 3, 2013 #7 Share Posted June 3, 2013 We've only cruised with family once, and honestly my kids liked crushing without cousins better because they liked camp and the cousins didn't want to go! Be sure she goes the first night, at that point everyone is new and on the same level. Mine always seemed to make good friends the first day that she played with the rest of the week. Cshgrand Posted June 4, 2013 #8 Share Posted June 4, 2013 We travel as a family of three. Our son is nearly five and has visited AO several trips for limited sessions. As there is Dreamworks on board, it's likely that Characters will stop by the open house on first night. This definitely increased the desire to go back for our son!
