Indy - Norwegian Fjords cruise 18th-26th May review (lots of pics!!!)

Recommended Posts

Aw, lovely review & very romantic, glad she said yes :)

Your photos are really good, and bring back great memories for me too as I was on the Queen Elizabeth at the same time as your cruise, it was good to see you in Olden. I took photos of Indy whilst I was there, I've seen her once before 29 August 2009 in Southampton & she was also there on the 26 May as we returned from our cruise this year.

I also did the glacier walk and got cold & wet, but what a view! For information I wore my kicker boots & my mum wore her trainers, so no specialist footwear was really required for that trip.

I love Norway, been 4 times already & I'd go back every year if I could.

Thank you for your kind words.....it was good to see the QE whilst in Olden too!

Have you ever thought about cruising on Indy?

Feel free to add a few pics you took of her in Olden - would be interesting to see her from QE's perspective! :)

So...we were now engaged.

And hungry.

We had a lovely dinner in the MDR, one of the waiters had an acoustic guitar and sang some songs to the tables in his area - even taking requests!

Meanwhile we were coming out of the fjords, into open sea as we made our way up the Norwegian coast towards our next port of call....Alesund.

After dinner, we decided a celebration was in order. So we went to the Champagne Bar and ordered two glasses of Veuve Clicquot.....which was delicious.

It wasn't too long before they retired for the evening and we finished our drinks. We decided to stroll around the ship, taking in the atmosphere of the evening.

Via Vintages for a drink...

Then ending up in Boleros for a 'Scorched Cherry Bacardi'

I play a lot of function gigs back home, so it's nice to be in the audience for a change drinking an alcoholic beverage.

We decided to call it a night not long after that......reflecting on a day that saw us hike up to a Glacier, see a broadway-style show and get engaged.

Tomorrow, we'll be in Alesund - no excursions, just doing our own thing.

Night :)

Congratulations Dave and Jen :) Loving your review and the photos.

There are so many places I want to cruise to but the fjords are definitely on the list and Indy would be a wonderful ship to go on. Best go check my lottery tickets!

Day 6 - Ålesund

Just to give you an idea of roughly where we are, here's a photo I took just before going to sleep the night before...

p><p>As we were doing our own thing in Ålesund, we decided to have a little bit of a lie in....then we headed down to the restaurant (y

We'd had breakfast there on our 2nd day (sea day) too and met some lovely people - which we'd bump into a few times during the cruise.

The weather started off a bit over cast, but in the afternoon the sun eventually burnt the clouds away. These low clouds were hiding the views of ice-capped mountains in the distance....once these were revealed, the views turned from jaw-dropping amazing, to truly epic...

Good morning Ålesund...

Eventually we got off the ship...it was quite nice to have freedom to explore, without having to get on a coach.

We walked up 418 steps to a view point overlooking the whole of Ålesund...

The following photos were taken on the way up and whilst at the view point.

Enjoy the view (we sure did!)

After a while, we decided to go....the promise of coffee and cake was becoming more appealing by the minute!

I had to take a photo of this. These were dotted about everywhere (not sure what they were), although it reminded me of the front cover of an album by RUSH ('Test For Echo')....Good enough reason to dig out the trusty iPhone 5 from my back pocket!

Congratulations on the engagement.
