roomiec Posted June 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2013 Any ideas about the most economical/expeditious way to get from the port into the heart of Rome? We'll be on a B2B and will have a full day to explore.
J&MSails Posted June 10, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2013 I just located this website. There is a video that shows how to get to the train station. http://www.italylogue.com/planning-a-trip/rome-cruise-terminal-where-it-is-how-to-get-there.html

J&MSails Posted June 10, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 10, 2013 roomie, I also saw on the cruise critic board that there is a free shuttle bus from the cruise ships to the train station. Makes it easier than dragging your luggage that distance. Enjoy your cruise, we will be there in November.
ducklite Posted June 10, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 10, 2013 We were on a B2B and our change day was in Venice. We were waiting at the gangplank for the all clear, and were the first people off the ship. Unfortunately the immigration people weren't ready for us, and we ended up waiting in the terminal for 20 minutes. Hopefully Civatavechia will be more organized. There are different options between the local the fast train and the express, and the quicker you get to Rome, the higher the fare goes. You can get schedules here: http://www.fsitaliane.it/homepage_en.html Windstar will want you back on board no later than an hour prior to sailing, they would prefer you were back two hours ahead. Keep this in mind when planning your day, and leave time for a transportation snafu. Do NOT forget to validate your ticket in the yellow box prior to boarding if you take the local on a BIRG ticket. Not doing so could result in a very steep fine.
