The Cheers program update

Even though the price has gone up, I still think it is a good deal for us. I mostly order doubles and will take advantage and drink the higher end wines @ $9 a glass. We usually have a 2 glasses early evening and then around 3 glasses at dinner. Just for wine that's already $45 used up and that doesn't include maybe a morning Bloody Mary,a few drinks in the afternoon at the pool and after dinner drinks or later in the evening drinks.

I think I tried ordering a double and they said I couldn't with the cheers card. So you could order a single and 5 mins later order a shot to add to it. If you are a drinker the card is worth it. I did what your wife... Tried new drinks everyday. By the end of our cruise I think I tried everything! Add a key lime martini to your drink list, yummy!! This conversation is making me thirsty!

OK, so if I get the cheers program and hit the alcoholic level limit ... I can still get pop on the cheers program and that covers it or I pay seperate for that?

There's no limit on the non-alcoholic drinks....they'll be covered on the Cheers program...

3 people in group. 2 in one cabin and third sailing alone. Person sailing alone will be going to Guest Services to switch cabins with one of the people in the 2 person cabin once on board.

Can person in single cabin buy the cheers program and then make the switch without anyone else being made to buy the program?

Includes soda Pepsi or Coke? Glass or cans?

I've only ever seen Coke products on Carnival. They may have Pepsi, but I've never seen it.

I drink Coke Zero and last month on Victory, when I asked for a Coke Zero, the bartender/server would give me a pint glass of ice and a can of Coke Zero. In fact, during the afternoon, as it got towards dinner time, if we were in the Casino bar playing trivia or something, we would order a soda with each alcoholic drink (the server would bring the mai tai or whatever, then five minutes later, bring the soda) but leave the cans unopened.

That way we would each have a soda or two for the cabin and wouldn't have to go out at 11:30 or midnight if we wanted a soda before bed.

Sort of. Carnival might give you some grief if you actually try to switch, so what you do is have the solo buy Cheers, then go to guest services and get extra "room keys" for the concerned parties. Then everyone just sorts it out with the S&S cards and extra room keys.

On every thread on this subject people keep bringing up a tax. There is not a tax on the cheers program. In most ports they charge sales tax on the ship until you reach international waters. So, each drink you purchase has a tax on it. This applies to everyone, not cheers program specific. On the cheers program, you have already paid for your drinks, so you are only charged the tax. If not on the cheers program, you are charged, the drink price, the 15% tip and the sales tax.

Yup....I think tax was about $.40 per drink to we hit open water. They do not charge it on the entire amount.

We were just on the Breeze and 2 interesting things:

1. At the emergency drill, a not so bright family was near us and we overheard them scheming about 1 of them would get the Cheers program and share it between the 6 of them. We laughed.

2. There was a 26 year old partied in our group that went a little nuts and spent $1,700 in alcohol for the week. He said afterwards he did not know about Cheers program.

We just returned from the Valor, we purchased the Cheers program and I will say for us it was great. $402.20 per person. Doing the math based on our S&S bills it looks like our average price per drink came out to less than $6 per drink........considering one beer without cheers on the first day was over $7 with tax and tip.......less than $6 is good. I drank Mimosas, Beer, Wine and some DOD's. Hubby was Beer and Mixed Drinks.

We never hit the 15 drink limit, only because of the amount of port days for this sailing.

We would definitely do it again and it was really nice knowing our S & S bill was already paid because we prepaid our gratuities. Only thing extra that was charged was 2 pics and some candy for our daughter. The lowest S&S bill in 10 cruises......I think I'll book another one!!!!:D:D
