IMKTDQT810 Posted June 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2013 We will be a family of 4 (me, DH, DS & MIL). MIL will most likely be hanging out in lounges since she is on 02 and will not be out on deck much. Are walkie talkies permitted on ships so we can see where she is located during the day and check on her? We are deciding between RCCL (Grandeur) or Carnival (Pride). Thanks!! cb at sea Posted June 14, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2013 You can try, but folks have varying success with them...the steel of the ship interfers. Why not just make tentative plans.....like meeting for meals and such, and get the next couple of hours plans on where everyone will be. The cabin is the "default" location. Should plans change and you can't find her, she will leave either a message on your phone, or a note!
kelleigh229 Posted June 15, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 15, 2013 we used walkies during one of our cruises. Worked at times...other times it was more annoying than it was worth. We always had sort of a central meeting location where we would eventually see each other. We left notes as well. You can try the walkies, but be prepared for them not to work at times... Rare Keith1010 Posted June 15, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2013 I would not use walkie talkies. They are unreliable and honestly are a nuisance for many passengers. You should have set times for meeting up and also making use of phone messages in the cabin and messages on message boards. Keith
