Question about AFT balcony rooms

As Mona said, it may depend on the ship and I think the Upper deck is usually the one right above the MDR on most ships. I would go for Empress (deck 7 usually) as it has cabins above and below and therefore should be more quiet. The only exception that I've heard people mention are the aft-wrap balconies (Vista suites) on the Spirit class - the deck 4 cabins seem to be preferred over those higher up.

 

I did notice you've booked Sunshine for next year and if that's the ship you're asking about, the Upper deck is right above the MDR.
