Southern Europe Weather in October

We are considering a cruise focusing on Santorini, Ephesus and the southern parts of France and Italy during October 2-12.It appears that Oct. is a rainy season in that part of the world. In your experience how much rain can we expect and will that interfere with our enjoyment of the cruise?

Hello neighbor! (we are in Sarasota, too)

October is a great time to visit that area! There may be some rain, or you also may have nothing but cool and sunny days. Even historical weather data is not always reliable. The crowds will have gone and you can have a much better experience than during the hot, crowded summer months.

We were on the Marina Grecian Glory cruise October 1-11 2011 (from Athens to Kusadasi/Ephesus and the various Greek islands including Santorini, and onwards north ending at Venice).

We were extremely lucky...absolutely beautiful weather, sunny and comfortable daytime temperatures (in the 70's) and very low humidity...

Early October is a fabulous time for southern Europe; we had lovely weather on our cruise last October which embarked in Barcelona and spent several days visiting various ports in Sicily and several more around the Amalfi Coast. Later in October indeed can be rainy but who knows what will happen a particular October. Our next cruise is the last week in September focusing on Adriatic ports. I prefer traveling in Europe in May/early June and October because my body abhors heat and humidity.
