Capt BJ - headed down to Siesta Key in a few weeks here--never been but hear the area is beautiful. Are you familiar with it?

If you're looking for a fun, casual place to eat, consider Casey Key Fish House; it's a little further south from Siesta, but not far - probably 15 to 20 minute drive depending on traffic.

Have not spent a lot of time there - but the beaches ARE first rate, good shelling if you are into that. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Can't recommend any eating places tho - just made a few day and passing thru trips. Head up to Sarasota one day - there is a branch of Columbia rest' there.

  • 6 months later...

We are possibly flying into St. Pete/Clearwater (PIE). Do any of the hotels in the area offer shuttle service to the port (cruise terminal) or is this too far away? The other option would be staying closer to Tampa and paying taxi from PIE to the hotel. Any idea on the cost of that?

I lived just over the south bridge for 18 months, what would you like to know about Siesta?

FWIW, I don't think the food is good at all at the Casey Key Fish house. If you want seafood, go to Walts or downtown Barnacle Bills.

Absolutely agree to go to Columbia on St. Armands Circle.
