First timer clothing panic

Recommended Posts

I am a first timer so please be kind if I ask silly questions.

We are going on med cruise in a couple of weeks and a clothing panic has set it. Here are all the questions:

Day - can I wear bandeau style tee-shirts or strappy vest tops?

Day - What are rules for Rome etc? on clothes. Is anywhere else in med need you to cover up?

Day - Daughter asked if denim shorts ok?

Night - can teen daughters and husband wear jeans on casual nights?

Night - will chinos be OK for casual/semi casual for husband?

Night - will 3/4 length trousers be OK for husband on casual nights?

Night - casual nights - are tee shirts allowed for teen girls and husband?

Night - I have some capri trousers for casual with a couple of mix and match sleeveless blouses - is that ok? Also have cardigans if cool.

Is there anything else I need to consider?

This will be the easiest if you haven't read through it yet.

Everything you mentioned should be more than fine for everything minus formal dining though I have yet to see anybody at RCCL turn someone away based on how they are dressed on formal nights.

Women - cocktail dress or similar

Men - Sport Jacket / Dress pants or a suit is sufficient for formal nights.

Yes to the bandeau tops/strappy vests, and denim shorts for daughter, also jeans or chinos on casual nights and the t-shirts. Probably a no on the 3/4 lengthy trousers for hubby, we generally wore trousers with different tops so that should be fine.

I think if you're visiting a religious site your meant to have your shoulders and knees covered, don't quote me on that coz I'm not sure!

Jules, the "cover up" thing depends on your ports and what you will be doing in them.

All churches require you to "dress modestly", which in general means that your skirt or pants must be below the knee, and your shoulders must be covered. Some enforce this more than others, just like on the ship. ;)

At St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, this is absolutely enforced.

It will also be the rule in mosques, if you are going to the Eastern Mediterranean.
