Military obc. Does early saver qualify for that?

We are booked ES. First time. We are VIP and mostly traveled Military rtes before..twice we did get casino rates..but not the freebies...less than miltiary but not too much. Alas. No More.

So I read this entire board everyday. Yes. I am addicted. And the posts of ES folks persuaded me to book ES for our cruise on the Breeze in the FAll. Sept. 14 to be exact.

So.....we have done well. OBC and price reductions. Not complaining. Just don't know and don't want to appear to be greedy by applying for stuff we are not entitled too. And all of the Price quotes I have used has come from Carnival Web Site. Fare Viewer or a dummy booking.

So...we qualify for the Miltiary rate. We did get the rate for that as we qualified for it. (learned that on this site. Thanks) I had to send in a DD 214, but not an issue. I was glad to do it.

Now..in the last column in the dummy booking..it says OBC credit for military...up to 100 per stateroom for cruises 6 days or longer.

We are on an 8 day cruise.

Do we qualify for the OBC? It spends like money on the ship.

And thank you all for all of your posts. Very informative. i would not book a ship....without reading this board.

We are VIP. if that matters. And we love the getting on board quickly. We did not get luggage quickly but DH liked wearing shorts to the MDR so it worked out anyway. He could get to the casino quicker...

Looking forward to the cruise to the Max.

One more question. This ES is addictive. We are booked on the Fascination for New year's. No ES rate when I booked. So we booked..Holiday Bonus sail. Now there is an ES rate on the sailing but it is $100 pp higher than the rate I have now.

Change? Stay with what I have? I am thinking NY Eve cruises will not go that low. And that ship..I think..is almost full now!!!

yes you can get military rate when booked es. I was booked es and the military came available and I got the military rate and 100 dollars obc. Still booked on es though with the military rate.

We did the same. We booked ES for our January 2014 B2B. We've had rate drops for ES, PG, Fall & Winter Sale, PG, & now Military Savings with OBC.

Booking is still considered ES. When checking for future price drops, though, you have to deduct your OBC (unless it also comes with the OBC) to see if it's worth it to submit the form. In many cases with future price drops you will lose the OBC that came with Military Savings.

Just confirming the above. I booked Military for a February, 2014 cruise. I booked this cruise while on a cruise and also got a $100 OBC. Then later during the Military rate sale, the price took quite a drop. Called my TA and they called Carnival for the adjustment. I lost the $100 OBC but did get a $50 OBC for the sale in it's place. The reduction (can you believe this?) was $340 so I came out with a $290 net change in price. So it certainly pays to check your pricing with every sale and review the OBC.

Just for info, I checked February, 2015 pricing for the same date and ship and there is no Military rate posted. Strange! Guess I will have to wait for the Military sale if there is one. Really have my doubts now, however, about buying a cruise on a cruise for the $100 on board credit.

Thank goodness, Carnival pricing is so easy to understand!

Thank You all.

The rate I have now..is exactly the same as the Miltiary rate is now. BUT the military has the OBC of $100.

Final payment was July One..so that is done.

I am filling out the form and sending it in as soon as I finish this.....

Happy Sails to all of you!!!!

As you quoted it, the military rate says "up to 100 per stateroom". Note the words "up to".

On my booking "up to 100 per stateroom" turned out to be $50 per stateroom. In your case, it may be 0. You'll have to do a mock booking and look for the OBC specific to that sailing and that category.

!!

Is the rate the same you paid? if so ask for the OBC- If the rate is higher you can pay that amount and get the OBC.

You can not just get the 100 OBC- it has to be tied to that rate.

Good luck and I hope its the same amount you paid-- would be nice

You should not have lost the $100 OBC for booking onboard. If you had used an FCC you probably would have as you cannot use FCC's with Military Rate.

When I look at my Manage My Cruise (My Billing) on Carnival's website, it only shows my $50 OBC for Military Savings Rate, but on page 2 of the Cruise Docs, it lists my $100 OBC for booking onboard + $50 OBC Promotional Credit. I do have both.

My PVP told me that my $100 OBC might disappear from the "My Billing", but as long as it appeared on my Cruise Docs, I was fine.

I am looking at the Carnival Invoice (Cruise document) dated 4/23/13 and it shows a $100 on board credit which was from the FCC. At the time I was clearly given the Military rate and the FCC of $100. There was no sale and no $50 OBC for Military.

On the Carnival revised Invoice dated June 21, 2013, I show an OBC of $50.00 from the latest Military sale. I also had a total price reduction of $340. The $100 FCC OBC was gone.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the 2 vouchers for $100 that I gave to 2 other cruisers. I got those vouchers for buying a cruise while on a cruise. It would be strange if they dropped my OBC but honored the 2 vouchers.

In any event, the Invoices were updated by Carnival so I would think this has to be the official policy. My TA was just following what Carnival was directing.

I'm a little confused here. Did you use an FCC or did you book onboard a previous cruise? When I used FCC's prior to this past 2013, we could not book Military with it.

We booked two cabins in the early morning hours of the 4th I booked one military and one regular ES when I printed off the confirmation this afternoon first time I noticed the "Friends and Family" on the military rate. Shame on me for not knowing the promotion before booking. Called Carnival end result both cabins are ES now with price protection priced at military rate. Saving 220 dollars and additional 50 dollars OBC.:D The Carnival rep I talked to was really up on what was going on with the rates gave me a couple of combinations on how to set up each cabin. If anyone has any questions call them and ask.

I sent in the early saver form. Within two hours I had a cabin confirmation. Exactly like the one I had. I waited a day....sent another one...explaining I had recieved a duplicate Cabin Confirmation..and that my Billing information was still the same...

Nothing.

So if I have not heard something by next week, I will call. I hate to be pushy. Ugh. but I would like the OBC and I think we are entitled to it. It is marked by the price on the booking engine that it comes with the Military rate. But I am new to it..and fear I am making an error.

The prices are the same. The military rate is exactly what I paid..after a few price reductions. The only difference is the OBC.

Carnival has been very nice to us. And I hate to appear greedy. Price drops are coming I hope now....Final Payment has come and gone..and there are still plenty of cabins like mine available.

We did not book in the early fall for that reason..we booked because it is our 42nd wedding anniversary. Woo Hoo! No one ever thought it would last that long..two totally opposite personalities..but ....something worked!!!

I am totally confused with this military/es. I applied for a 20 dollar price drop, I'm originally es, then took advantage of military to get the 100 obc. I thought being es I would still be able to get price drops and keep my 100 obc. When I checked my invoice carnival changed my 100 dollar obc to 20 dollars obc. Does anyone know if I should have lost the 100? Why would anyone willingly ask for a reduction in obc? Oh yes please give me 20 instead of 100 ! If anyone could explain in simple terms I'd appreciate it.

Amber - read the new cabin confirmation carefully... sometimes that's all I get, but the discount and/or OBC shows on it.

As to your original question, I'm ES on a cruise in October, paid-in-full. When the military rate was published, I filed for the differrence of the fare pricing. When Carnival notified me, there was more OBC than I expected. After calculating what the fare difference should have been, I subtracted it from what they had granted, and sure enough, It was the amount of the OBC they had offered for military. I think I'm running around in circles trying to say that they gave me both the fare difference and the OBC.

Again, compare the new Cabin Confirmation to the old one, and see if they've given you credit.

ADDED: also check your cruise documents and see of the OBC shows there...

On a February, 2013 Liberty cruise, I purchased a February, 2014 Breeze cruise and got a $100 OBC for the 2014 cruise. The Carnival Invoice for the 2014 cruise showed an OBC of $100. It had nothing to do with any sale but strictly the cruise on a cruise OBC and a Military rate. When I took a price reduction, the OBC disappeared and was replaced by a $50 OBC for a Military Rate sale.

Maybe Carnival goofed but they did give me the original $100 OBC with the Military rate. Then they replaced it with the $50 OBC and the price reduction. I am happy with the major price reduction and have no hard feeling with Carnival.

Who knows. Maybe in the future, the price will go down further and I will lose my $50 OBC. As long as the reduction exceeds $50, I will take the next price reduction.
